Thanks for that. I haven’t had the time to replace mine - most probably do this in the spring.

I should have a replacement screen by the weekend - so hopefully it’s second time lucky.

I have exactly the same problem with my 6 button OBC and really toying with the option of repair instead of chancing buying a second hand one.

Fitted the new screen today - no repeat of the screen exploding debacle this time. Works great.

Ordered my replacement screen for my 6 button OBC today from Part Gearworks on eBay for £36.18, I can let anyone interested know how the install goes when it arrives?

Received my replacement screen in under a week from the German supplier on Ebay (Gearworks) and it took 5 minutes to install with help from the instruction pack and even easier watching it on YouTube! Below are the before and after shots. Very Happy!

Magpie's screen won't fit a 13 button OBC, but the same supplier does one that will. Look further back in the thread, you will find links to both types.

I have a 13 button OBC on my e24 which has always had a bled screen since I bought it. Unfortunately replacing the screen with one of these didn't work for me. Nothing shows on the screen, it just lights up. Looks like the OBC is knackered internally somewhere which is a shame.

Hi. Has anyone tried fitting a 13 button version to a US spec model?
I’m wondering what the difference is and if I can just use the same one

See this wiki article. https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.p ... itting_OBC
The 13 button needs a lot more than the 6 button.

Sorry, maybe I didn’t explain properly.
I currently have the 13 button OBC, but need to replace the lcd. I have a US spec model M3, but the Partworks eBay listing says their replacement lcd is not for the US spec model.
I was wondering if anyone had tried fitting one of these on a US spec obc, and if so what extra (if anything) you need to do.
Thanks in advance.

The OBC fitted to UK cars can be switched to US units, so I wasn't aware that there was a difference.
Possibly some element of the display required for US units is missing on the replacement screen?
