Anyone have a good solution to keep cab horseshoe cover down

Thanks for these - obviously they're different from the pics I put up of mine - I'm missing that plate with the welded on bar. I find it odd that BMW have two variants of the horseshoe cover - one with this plate and one without. I would have thought they'd keep their part counts down by having one variant that suited both manual and electric hoods.

Handily, the bracket that holds the hoop that the main latches catch (the black part in your photos held on with two bolts) has two holes in it that more or less line up with the safety catch, so I'm hoping I can get a threaded bar and bolt it through these holes, if you see what I mean. Might need a bit of bending.

Either try to source a horseshoe with as they are not that expensive or make something up and pop rivet it in place.

I'd be lucky to find one the right colour, though I am considering getting the car resprayed next year. The pop-rivet idea is a good one - hadn't thought of that. Nice one.

Another option is to source a damaged horse shoe and to cut that bit out.

Possible, though as I gather the majority of UK cars came with electric hoods, the chances of finding a salvage one with this part fitted would be limited I imagine. Could be wrong of course.

A few strong neodymium magnets? for a quick fix?

We use some on our products, 20mm OD x 3mm thick and they're dangerously strong. get a few thicknesses and have a play. You could glue or pop rivet then into place?!
