prob these calipers then

regarding cross linkage on mine the moment the pedal has a moved a mm or so the clevis on the other side is moving so def not the linkage. mines been flushed bled a number of times and its just poor, the MC was replaced about 4 years ago. ive noticed the pedal feel is best with new discs and pads so perhaps its just slop/lack of stiffness in the calipers
a bigger MC would improve the pedal but the braking effort to the rear diminishes alot from what im told

The m has a bigger m/c and thats not affected on the rear, I have had my 325i e30 since new it replaced a e21 323 brakes on that were first class, I had some warrany work on the e30 brakes and was lent a new 2 ltr e30 non abs the brakes on that were really good, could it be just abs models that suffer mushy pedal feel.

Finally got round to finishing the brake upgrade on my 325 E30, I was out in the states and got hold of a new BMW 25mm master cylinder (90 dollars), no more mushy feel to the pedal and the car stops really well, more than pleased with it, my other half who's car it is is now happy to use the car , she started the issue in the first place by not wanting the use the car because of the poor brakes.

So, in conclusion, as I've said on here on many occasions, there is NOTHING lacking in the standard E30 brakes for road use and with engine/chassis spec. anywhere near standard, as long as they are working as BMW intended.
The problem here was a duff master cylinder, which, if it had been diagnosed and replaced at the start, would have saved the trouble and expense of the Wilwood upgrade, nice though that may be.

Wrong, nothing at all wrong with the old master cylinder it was a bmw part purchased new less than 1 year
ago. I originally fitted it as i thought the old one which had been on the car from new was or could have been faulty, After fitting there was no difference in the brakes what so ever.

I dont have a problem with balance. I now have a firm pedal not to hard not to soft with very little travel. and the car stops square and even and any lock up due to various road conditions is taken care of by the ABS, Having had the car from new the brakes have never been as good as they are now. I do know about balancing and setting up braking systems from my historic formula one and two racing days.
