Somewhere between 3 & 5k I think.

But ultimately, it's worth what someone is prepared to pay......I like the "eBay with no reserve" idea to really silence the chancer buyers and dreamer sellers though.

I do question how "solid" an original 170k mile sport is nowadays that hasn't had the water trap kit off and all the frilly bits chopped out, replaced and repainted by now.......particularly one that has already had a wing replaced due to rot! winkeye

I think I'd want to be nearer the 3k than the £6k you've quoted.......unless he could show me on a ramp and behind the kit that I wouldn't have to spend the same money again on a shell rebuild......

It's too council for the OEM crowd and too pricey for the council crowd, so no, I don't believe it is worth £11k......I see it at about £7.5/£8.5k......IMO of course :o:

Im sure this sport had anal eye headlights fitted and looked a bit low
Not this one, he has 2 the one with anal eyes is a tech 1 sport and despite a few after market modifications is one of the cleanest tech 1's I've seen in the flesh spends most its life wrapped up in the back of his unit.

the one we are discussing in this thread is a tech 2 with no after market editions

Admittedly so fella, but like I said, unless the person selling said sport could prove it wasn't a rotten old shed by producing proof of restoration or allowing a full inspection on a ramp etc, then that's what it's value is in my opinion......Just because it looks shiny and we'll looked after doesn't necessarily mean that we should assume it is........to quote the old adage:

To assume just makes an ASS of U or ME.....

Yeah, I know which one is it, I seen it prior to him buying it in the back yard of someones who I bought some parts off.

I don't mean to seem like I'm shooting you down but anyone who does consider buying it, please inspect it thoroughly as it had crusty wings. The repair was, wing base cut off, new one welded on, then body kit back over. Which doesn't sound bad but the plan was to just cover it back up with a body kit regardless so I would want to see any other work carried out

Especially if he is wanting more than 3k

Indeed it is but the words used was, 'it'll be covered up anyway', which makes me question how it would have been done. As I said, I'm not trying to shoot him down but if someone was to hand over 6 k for it then find out it was a shitter, atleast they had a bit of advance warning to check it over :D

Well, it will be covered up anyway, and if got instance there were no other paint or rust issues and wing arches were decent - that could just be a short term fixed without proper paint, at least its better than not fixing it

Weather its a shed or not who knows, but every mid range sport up for sale will have some issues or other

Who really knows what they sell for ? There's such a variable if conditions and spec its each car has an individual price really, sports aside even the prices of base type model 4 pots is daft within average joe thinking his reasonably clean 318 is worth 3 grand with nice wheels or his rusty shed 316 is worth 1500 !

Exactly mate........Everything I've typed is my opinion based on what I would pay for a car......other people have different ideas of value or are prepared to pay big money for a certain car simply because of what it is and not necessarily because of it's condition......I've even known of people paying well over the odds for a 'known' car that is actually a turd rolled in glitter because they think people will all of a sudden think they are some sort of hero and that it will elevate them in their chosen 'scene' (God I hate that word!!!!) :x

Jimmyoldskool you have made my day with all your comments on this thread.

A shed with new paint is just a shiny shed.

Proof in work carried out and pictures always help when asking for values or the difference in value could be compared to distance from the UK to the Moon..... Yes you guessed it miles apart

Ive been following ebay prices closely and they are certainly on the rise.

Its waiting for the right buyer and for the potential buyer, waiting for the right seller instead of settling for a lesser sport. Its a waiting game!

And that's before you tackle the body issues. And there will be some.
Its currently owned by a BMW specialist such as yourself so it should be in fairly good order I'll get detailed shots and put them up over the next few days.
I've worked/work with plenty of people who work on BMW's for a living and they drive around in scrap.

The master tech with the vectra on 3 cylinders was one of the more comical ones.
Why don't they drive something decent ????

Master tech (BMW?) driving vectra on 3 cylinders ?
WTF. Your fuckung master tech should be in a M3 living it large or at minimum 6 cylinders

Most never really get the time for their own cars, as they are always taking care of someone else's car.
Actually, most aren't really that into cars to be honest. To most it's just a job.
That's odd
So they work with cars and they have no passion for cars ????
Strange.

This
Only takes a few sales to happen then everyone starts to adjust their prices
Sports are on the rise. FACT.

But is this Sport 170k advertised at £8-10k ???? I struggle to think is worth that much when Tech1 38k 1 Owner FBMWSH was £10k.
Anyway who knows.

So many people in the trade just aren't into cars.
