So... taking this to its logical conclusion - I googled the acid dipping process and it seems that Phosphoric acid is what they use to dip the whole shell.

If you can get hold of Phosphoric acid and use it safely then you can clean your (car) parts like the big boys.

In the spirit of true thread necromancy

Demlot - here's a link to BH epoxy mastic which looks to be a similar idea to POR-15 but includes Zinc. I dunno if you'll be interested if you're not impressed by Hydrate-80 (which is still holding my E46 Wing together) but it does look to be useful for wheel arches etc where you're likely to get stone chips smacking your rust protection.

I bought some BH deox gel and some phosphoric acid I'm going to try out both. Just need to look up how to thicken the acid out into a gel form. Wedding plans are getting in the way of my projects..

I know exactly how you feel, although it's more the ever increasing detrimental effects on my bank account that they are having that worries me! £1000 for this, £1500 for that, £500 for something else. Just goes on and on!

Mr Mooore when's yours? Back on topic; have you used anything to thicken phosphoric acid to a gel form or do you just use it to dip?
