[trades descriptions act mode]HOWEVER, when i advertise the car, i never call it an SE, i always advertise it as 325 or 325i. I never say she is an SE if i advertise her.[/trades descriptions act mode]

How about this, cheap as to insure, run etc etc...........

Image
Its a 1988 G100 Charade GTTi, its a 1 Litre 3 cylinder, 12 valve, turbocharged intercooled mean machine. Standard has 99BHP and does 0-60 in 7.9 seconds. But this bad boy has 170BHP, does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, top speed of 150MPH, and does the 1/4 mile in 12.8 seconds (should hit 11.2 to 11.4, we found out a bit too late that the piston was cracked, broke and blew up the engine when I was racing a Renault 5 GT Turbo. Couldn't find the other problems, so we just doing a full rebuild). Hopefully will be on the road in a few weeks, and soon to be mine. Can't wait. The interior is fully bare, except for 2 bucket seats, a nice install, some carpets, and a full blue roll cage. Engine will be standard expect for a K&N Induction kit and the baileys dump valve (the only things we could salvage :( ). Future mods will be a full body restoration, and a custom made bodykit hopefully done by www.blade-streetmods.co.uk when I can be bothered to ask them :P. New alloys (maybe 16s), lower the car by 50mm, and a full respray. Fingers crossed :D

Cut and paste job!

Yeah Charade GTTi! I wanted one really bad before i got an E30, i still hold them with some respect!
It has the most powerful car production 3cyl ( ) of them all i think, a record that stands today i think, mainly cause noone else is competing hehe.
Theyre cheap to insure but very hard to find in good condition and their parts are thin on the ground too, which is why i turned away from getting one :?

Best thing to do would be to get something small that doesnt cost the earth to run to keep you on the road. So when the Tax and or MOT run out then its not the end of the world if you have to ditch it.

There isnt alot of point buying something too big and meaty thats not going to save you any money at all for the refurb. A 325 or even an iS are still going to be more expensive than something cheapy.

Just an idea... there ya go!

The guy with the charade is incredibly optimistic in his figures!

Had a starlet turbo, much quicker and more fun. And didn't pretend to do 11 second quarters either just solid 14's. Out of budget though.

I don't think Scott will go wrong with a good solid chavilier... or maybe a cheap 320? That won't be too bad, and will have 6 cylinders...

Dude, if your after somthing cheap to run about it, so that you can put more money into your sport. Then i really cant see what all the fuss is about, yeh you like certain cars to drive, we all do, but thats why you building your sport again. All the things that seem ideal you dont like lol! Fair enough i wouldnt want to drive a complete dog around. But if its an ok car, a cheap Cav or somthing, get a 16v one, not the slowest car around, cheap to fix etc, and then you can look forward to driving your sport!

Dont wanna sound rude mate, but dont be so picky !! :D :D

big up to Wil with the Fiat Uno - talk about dedication for a car - Scott why be picky for a cheap as hell runaround to fund more money to the Sport? Sell your 325 for Ԛ£1500 say, buy a shed for Ԛ£150, nice profit there to go towards the Sport.

I slumped down to a Ford Fiesta 1.3L for a while... a Ԛ£150 bargain, that I sold on again for Ԛ£150 6 months later. I HATED driving it, but it served a purpose...

Moved on to an equally cheap car, the Mk2 Golf, and had that for 18 months till an Audi Coupe came, then arrived the 320iS, and the rest is history...

To get what you want in the long term, you gotta sacrifice a certain amount of street cred for the end result. You'll pat yourself on the back for having done so...

To back up what I said earlier, I've been in a FixOrRepairDaily Escort Van 1.8TD, since DECEMBER in sacrifice for my 2.7 which I won't be insured until early March.

Im not being picky! Im not saying its got to have leather, air con, fsh or any of that crap...all im after is a car that i trust to get me where i want to go with similar performance to an iS or 325 so i dont get totally bored off my face. The cav/vectra/calibra came about as i trust Vauxhalls and i can abuse them and not feel guilty about it and they can be had for Ԛ£500, which, as Jimbob suggested would leave me with a nice healthy profit to put towards my Sport. The only thing im being picky about is that its got similar performance to a 318iS or a 325. That leaves the doors fairly open to anythign with some poke..... the only restricting thing is the money side of it...and you guys are making more of a fuss about that than i am!

Anyway, Ive had a guy round my house this afternoon to look at my 325 that was advertised in my local FreeAds. Ive put it in there for 1900, which, im sure everyone will agree is overpriced, BUT he's still interested. Now, say he offers me Ԛ£1800 for it (just for instance) and i buy a Vectra 2.0 16v for Ԛ£700. That leaves me with Ԛ£1100 to spend on the sport and a perfectly usable daily slag car. Which I KNOW my dad would buy off me when his cavalier died its final death! Say I sell that for Ԛ£700 - i get use of the car and dont lose any money!!! RESULT, I'm sure you will all agree. Then, when the sport is finished, i can drive that and be thouroughly proud of my achievements. :D

So now does everyone get where im coming from? The brand doesnt bother me, the modl doesnt bother me... all that bothers me is that it doesnt bore me stupid and I can rely on it... the vauxhalls only got mentioned coz i trust them.

So there...im not being THAT picky am i?

Let's hope he buys it for Ԛ£1800 - A very good price for you!

Cav or Calibra 16v is the way to go then...

Ive spent a fair bit on my 325 and i bought it for more than im selling it for, but hey, ive had LOTS of fun times in it, so I dont mind. If it stays local i can also keep an eye on it too, which will be nice!
If he buys it for Ԛ£1800 id probably buy a vectra over a Cav, but depending on how good a condition it was, id have a calibra over the vectra. If i can only find a dog of a calibra then its vectra time!

Early Sri 8v is best bet though, very strong, quick and cheap.
Here's the 130 i have at the moment with a friend i have had 5 in total and sold my last 16V Gsi to go back to one as they are better on fuel then the 16v(but then my 325 is as well  ) and go like **** The early mk3 sri used the same engine but rot more.

Cheers for the big up Jimbob!
An unreliable rust bucket is half the fun of it! I can remember the Fiat stalling on me up a hill in the dark pouring rain and it took 5 mins of "oh $H!T" before it cooled down enough to start again, also had a leaky exhaust so i had to drive with the windows down too!
Ur current offer sounds good tho Scott, but you could save even MORE!
