body work and paint isn't too expensive if you can do it yourself, but metallic paints are more expensive for materials and much more difficult to do.

Il pull the carpets out and have a good look at it all before I decide once and for all. If not il break it, or fudge it for a bit of fun. Can't loose out either way at least.

Some people whinge about these turds getting fragged, yet deem every ropey turd a fragger.
As you've said, strip it down, carpet and panels off and assess whether it's worth the effort and money, you haven't lost anything if it turns out to be a rotter. At worst it's better than sitting at home watching crap tv, you might even just save one.
