Daz, try www.blackcircles.com plenty of rubber to chose from in various sizes and either dropped off to your doorstep for you to then arrange fitting or pay for fitting in advance. Not looked on there, but there are usualy deals to be had.

my gsd2 on the rear of my sport have done approx 12,000 miles and still have a good 3mm left on them on the inside (neggy camber!)
just fitted gsd3's on the front and they are great! madness in the wet or dry!

To be fair most road tyres overheat when driven hard in the dry (unless the weathers cold)
Lap and a half of the ring is usually enough. Was good when I had some avon zv1 or whatever they;re called on my crx at the ring - that car had the perfect balance on hot tyres, could induce slides/oversteer with a nudege of the wheel
But I know what you mean, some budget tyres chunks come out of the bloody tyres when you drive em hard!

I had the gsd2's on an e36(225/45/17),that was about 18 months ago when the gsd2 supply's were drying up.Lordschleife wrote:I thought they only made GSD2 in the e30 sizes?technoviolet wrote:This is very true, eagle f1's are the best it seems.Ive had a set previously(but they were gsd2's)and they were excellent. There seems to be no other tire among the top manufacturers, bridgestone, pirelli, dunlop, michelin etc to get the same praises overall as the goodyear f1's.318-is wrote:i think the moral of these findings are this
Eagle f1s.
Job done
On average how many miles are you getting out of gsd3's on the rear?

Your a brave man - new tyres on the front and old on the rear!Simon13 wrote:my gsd2 on the rear of my sport have done approx 12,000 miles and still have a good 3mm left on them on the inside (neggy camber!)

Are you running 16" alpinas? The only Eagle F1 I could find that might fit my 15" BBS were 195/50/15. Could be worth a shot I suppose, they're pretty cheap in that size.

dude the gsd3's are on the left! gsd2 on the right! the 2's are out of probuction now.
Robin, the alpina's have wider rears which won't fit on the front and i had p-zeros of some kind, before and they were pony and wore out quickly.

I realized the alpinas you run are wider at the back, def. better than having the p-zero on the rear, but you should really do all 4 at the same time, or just the rears, not always possible I know if you cant rotate.

Simon,12k miles is very good wear rate for this type of tyre.Id deffo go for f1's for the sport presuming the gsd3's have the same wear rate if i thought id get that kind of mileage from the rears.Simon13 wrote:my gsd2 on the rear of my sport have done approx 12,000 miles and still have a good 3mm left on them on the inside (neggy camber!)

Tbh this was the factor in making me look at other brands as i only got about 8k miles from the gsd2's on the back of the e36(323i,even wear and wasnt thrashing them either),this could be to do with the e36 being a bit of a lardass so maybe the e30 wont be as heavy on tyre wear at the rear.
I know tyre wear should be secondary to grip and safety but at 146 euro each for gsd3's for the sport(215/40/ZR17),id like to think id get reasonable mileage from them.Only one way to find out i suppose.
