The car was found by a zone member 'jimmyspeed' whilst bike riding there, to which I am most thankful. It was found at Eversley heath which is common ground for burnt out stolen cars. There was a nova taken from round the corner which was dumped and also another one attempted but failed the same night. I reported to the police that I have found my car, to which they told me they knew about it 2 weeks ago but could not identify it as no plates melted. Quite how many old e30 touring cases they dealt with I don't know but wouldn't think it would take to much working out who's car it is?
Maybe one day when I have a garage of my own I will get another one or a sierra cosworth. But for the minute I will stick to driving my work van about.
Thanks for all the nice comments most people just see it as a old car of no value (like the thieves probably did other wise they would of been clever enough to strip it)

disklok is what i use on my e30, i have trouble taking it off even when i have the key to unlock it. Its a nightmare to use but it gives me confidence that my e30 is safe and it is also a deterrent to potential theives

Not necessary to spend money! If that had been fitted up with my simple fuel pump wire shorting switch, it would have gone nowhere.saloon591 wrote: Hopefully this will encourage a few of you to buy the best security you can afford. I only wish I did rather than making sure the mechanicals were perfect.
Too late or this one, but the rest of you, get it done.

Only in certain circumstances. It may stop opportunistic little toe rags but there is little you can do to stop those truly determined.Brianmoooore wrote:Not necessary to spend money! A local chap had his Citroen SM trailered away by thieves. It had no engine in it at that time
Assuming it didn't rust into dust over night.

Only an immovable obstruction will prevent a car being trailered away. No one takes a blind bit of notice of alarms, even if it does sound, and a pair of bolt cutters on the battery negative cable shuts 95% of them up in seconds.
It's the toe rags and pikeys that most E30 owners need to worry about, and a popped fuel pump fuse will defeat most of them.

Thats a truly gutting thing to happen. Try not to loose faith. Get another and just take the necessary measures to make it less steal-able.
It was a tidy looking Touring. You didn't buy it off as chap in Clapham by any chance did you?

Yes I bought it off a guy called Mat off of here, really nice guy he will be gutted to see it like this. I told him I would look after it as well if not better than he did which I did. I did have a quick look on the for sale section. Found myself eyeing up the red touring on there, so the bug is still there.

I know Matt, have worked with him and his brother on and off for about 7 years. I went down to look at that touring when he was selling it last summer. I nearly bought it but at the time it would have crippled me financially plus I fancied a bit more of a project.
As I'm sure you well knew, he had put loads of effort into that car and it sounded like you had too since. When I last spoke to him he said it had been sold at that the new owner seemed happy with it. I real shame, I feel more gutted now that I had seen and driven the car.
Still... get on that for sale section and get yourself another..

Is there a written guide for this anywhere Brian?

I've written how to do it on several occasions, so that will all be in the archives, and brought up by the 'search' function. Don't know if it's made it to the wiki.
It's very simple to do, but the important thing is to short circuit the fuel pump supply, not isolate it. An isolator is still very easy to bypass.
