Ok diddler .. Do you argue the claim I make that 2k is more or less the starting/minimum price for sports as they break for that , or am I wrong ? That's all I said in response to the post saying he's deluded thinking it was worth over 2 bags...

A good E30 these days, be it a 316 or a Sport with little or no bodywork issues is a rare rare car, values of these types of cars will always go up/be higher, its a fact.

As with all marques of cars there will always be more coverted models, with E30's in no particular order its Sport, Alpina, Hartge, and M3 variants.

Each variant will have its own following and support down to personal likes and reasons.

We should embrace them all from a humble bog standard 316 to the rarest M3, because if we don't it'll get boring fast, for example who just wants to see 20 Sports all in a line in 3 different shades of silver..............

If a Sport and its parts breaks for 2K then you need to buy it at £500 to make it worth all your hard work and time, and that ain't gonna happen unless you buy from somebody who hasn't got a clue about what car he's got.

A 2k Sport will likely need 5K spent at least to make a good car, ok if your doing it for love, no good for any other reason.

Its a minefield that we see fellow zoners walk into all the time, fuelled by their desire to own a sport, we have all seen those threads once the rust pictures have been posted, great if you know what your doing, shi8e if you don't, you'd be better off buying some other E30 and get some enjoyment out of that instead of buying a pile of parts at a premium price, when in all honesty you don't have the cash to spend on it.

No ones saying you'd pay 2k to break it, just saying you'd be immensely lucky to get any road going motd sport for under 2k, I'm pretty sure if anyone on here had that got sale they would want at least 2 bags for it, right or wrong ?

Regardless of the sport haters clubs opinions, a sport with with tax and mot WILL sell for a minimum of £2-3k. Whilst the none sport owners don't see the worth in them, a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay, and there is no shortage of people willing to pay strong money for a sport, which makes them worth it. How do you think glasses and cap determine the value of a car? It's based on real data as to how much specific cars have been selling for. Sports have been selling for more than lesser models, therefore they are worth more.

Take a look at more modern cars, I work for the largest auction group in the country and deal with valuations all day every day. Take a 320d SE, compare it to an equivalent mileage same year and condition 320d M Sport, and the M Sport is far more desirable, and books much higher than the SE, and WILL sell for more, and much easier in most cases. I get an M Sport through I know I'll sell it, get an SE through and I know there's a high chance of me seeing it come through again, probably with a lower reserve.

Hopefully i have started a trend with overpriced 325i sports. I have just spotted an 84k mile car for sale on Classic cars web site for £12,500 if the car sales it should be good for everyone with genuine cars.
Apologies for hijacking the thread.

At the end of the day its an E30, they look beautiful in every body style/package, My 2p worth, I'd love a Tech1, the kit looks alot better than a Tech2, IMO, which is bulky, & I don't like the tech2 boot spoiler.

Lots of people will say things like that Ross but most M3's at 12k will need thousands throwing at them and will never be low mileage unrestored original cars like what the sport in the advert appears to be.

The equivalent condition/mileage M3 will be more like double that price.

E30 prices are on the up and and that goes for all E30's.

With alpina/Hartge models almost non existent to buy and m3 prices running away out if most people's reach., it's only natural more will look to sports.. And that will only increase prices

Most 12k M3s are a resto project with a shine and a tax disc :(

I personally would rather spend the cash on an m3 needing work. Hardly low mileage, my turd has less.

84k is low for a 23 year old car and the fact that its sub 100k (important to peado types) standard and unmolested makes it desirable to collectors/enthusiasts/people reliving their youth.

These type of people don't patched up molested snotter of an M3 with form* of which £12k of M3 will be.

Maybe so, I forget a lot of enthusiasts just want a turd they can jump in without having to spend weekends playing around with it

If you bought a bottom end 12k m3 god knows how much you would have to spend on it to make nice ,would probably need a full strip and sort out and horrors sorted and replace very expensive m3 tax parts and componentsabd mechanical work.. It would eat cash..

Yep, probably need scuttle/rear panel/front wing replacements at some point in its not too distant future for that money, all of which are certainly not cheap. Buy a good'un, better economy than trying to make a turd mint (unless you are very competent at serious bodywork).

Which one

Very well actually, just need to get some time away from fecking Uni work to get some work done to it. Currently trying to take a 2500 word assignment down to about 1200 words at the moment, but I'd much rather be working on one of the S50's or the M3 :(
