who knows, but if you look at the basic fundamentals, demand is low, but also so is supply just look at pistonheads there's a total of 26 E30's for sale, only a year ago there used to be well over a hundred for sell. so if demand starts to pick up I would imagine certain models will go up in value, even 325i sports. But I don't think there will be demand for 318 and 320i's, unless they are in timewarp condition with ultra low milage.

i also hate these sort of threads as they put me off my plans.
I have a run out model of the 325i sport in granite silver and I'm gagging to increase power, perhaps via a m52 heart transplant.

Just enjoy your e30 and don't rely on it to pay off your mortgage in 5-10 years.
out of interest what were e30 prices like in general 6-7 years ago compared with today ? seems prices are a lot different now even than 2 years ago let alone 6Simon13 wrote:people were saying all this tripe 6-7 years ago and nothings changed bar the M3 going to its deserved place among the other homogolation specials of the same time period.

I think a bit cheaper...but also lots more choice. I remember seeing more 320is around for £2-3k but you don;t see them much now. You could pick up a really decent 325i around £2k too but again there just don't seem to be the numbers to judge it on.polsta wrote:out of interest what were e30 prices like in general 6-7 years ago compared with today ? seems prices are a lot different now even than 2 years ago let alone 6Simon13 wrote:people were saying all this tripe 6-7 years ago and nothings changed bar the M3 going to its deserved place among the other homogolation specials of the same time period.
I sold my 318is in '08 for 1800 and it was mint (wish I had never sold it too but I went to Oz and couldn't take it with me!) I just think they've been fragged to death and there is a chance the prices will go up just due to rarity. Not sure they'll hit £15k but still will go up. Just my 2p!

Good postajay wrote:All markets operate on a supply and demand basis (dictates price),most people would not dream of buying a 10k sport today, the 1 or 2 that have been up over the past couple of years have took a while to sell. There have been a couple of good nice 320 is,s available but not sold (reasonably priced cars), why? Because of no demand or no one wants to pay so much ££ for a slightly lesser model than an M3. Most people who are looking want a bargin for there money and won,t consider a top priced sport in top condition 8-10k, but everyone thinks in a few years time their e30 will fetch a fortune when some decent cars struggle to get sold at the moment. Whatever anyone thinks without a rose tinted crystal ball no one actually knows!
who knows which model car is going to be of interest
when i passed my driving test late 80s i remember all those escort mk2s going for pennys or to the bone yards
a mate at work was selling his mk2 mexico for £800 at the time, whats it worth now
my e30 cost me £300 5years ago its not a nice car so its still worth £300 now
i am not worryed what its worth in the future

Like Si said except for M3's they aren't much different, many were just as shite back then..IMO the only difference being that Breakers are getting hard to find and much more expensivepolsta wrote:out of interest what were e30 prices like in general 6-7 years ago compared with today ? seems prices are a lot different now even than 2 years ago let alone 6Simon13 wrote:people were saying all this tripe 6-7 years ago and nothings changed bar the M3 going to its deserved place among the other homogolation specials of the same time period.
the days of buying a rotten 325i for £100 have sadly gone
