Completely stripped back to the bare bones, now the build begins ...

Steering column lengthened by six inches

Steering column lengthened by six inches and relocated at a shallower angle because when the body is on you would need to be extra slim to get into the car because of how the door opens

Also gotta keep warm while working on the car

I just don't know if this is going to be an utter abomination or complete stroke of genius. Really can't tell yet. !!

Very Interesting read however do carry on!

haha well either way the jag would never have seen the road again if this hadnt happened to it and the e30 well it had just sat in my garage for years with its only action being me starting it around once a month letting it run abit then switching it back off to return to its slumber, the jag was just sat in a field..how something like that happens has always confused me .

The Engine will be going back in its an m50 non vanos 325 motor ,its out of an old e36 i had at the same time as i smashed the sump on the cab ,so i broke the e36 to keep the e30 alive as that was the better car ,the engine is very good and since then i have had 3 other e36 325`s and not one was as fast .He has took the engine out to do some fab work in the bay i think and he is getting a custom loom made up (its the only bit Mike wont be doing on the car i believe ) I am trying to persuade him that it needs a turbo too but the owner was saying that may come later .
(just to be clear this is not my build but one a friend [survivor customs -Mike hill] is doing for someone else ,the donor e30 was my old car and as this is e30 related, well it is a little i thought i would share it here ,i am not quite so good with a welder haha.)
Thanks for all the good reply s i was telling Mike and he was quite shocked and happy people were liking it.

Ok then a little update these are a few days old so progress will be a bit further on but anyway

Custom pedal box under construction, 2 parts Vw 1 part bmw
Image

Image
In position
Image

So in a cab (not sure about other shapes ) at the base of the rear seats the pannel kind of comes out and is double skinned ,this stuck out too far to get the seats far enough back (the seats are some lotus jobbies )so this was cut out and a trial fit - with Boris the dog

Image

See this was the bit i was talking about if you can get you head around the angle of the pic
Image

Filler bit made up with bead rolled into it
Image

Image

Seat bases fabricated and welded into place
Image

More seam welding on the BMW / Etype chassis... This thing is gonna be so strong
Image

Final bit of chassis work before the e type body goes back on...nice solid base for the jag inner sills to mate up to.
Image

E type shell back on the chassis for the final time, tacked up and squared up... It's officially an E30 type now... Loads more metal work to mate the whole thing together... This is where it gets interesting!
Image

Image

Sorry for the loads of pics but it not something you can describe the body looks a bit strange around the sills at the min way too high but this will be made to look perfect i am certain . i will update again soon ,Cheers for all the positive feedback i need to show Mike this thread i have been telling him its getting a good reception though .

he has just bought that as a run around so it might have been from your way ? thats getting a tdi engine fitted ....for some reason he said something about economy and mpg but i dont understand what that means

I showed mike a few of the replys and stuff and he sent this back

"Ah thanks mate awesome.... It's good to see people's reactions, I'm really enjoying this car and the direction it's going in.. I want to keep it my self haha"

i know if i put that much work into something i would hate to hand it back to the owner
