Or he just had custom inner races fabricated?
Essentially what you get with his kit is a complete solution which is needed IMHO, after all what's the point in going five stud if not for the larger bearings at the front?

Possibly, the metal and machining looks dissimilar which led me to sleeve.
Custom inner races were another option i looked at but again the cost to keep oem quality and them being a wear part was a deal breaker to me, wouldn't want to be replacing custom inner races every time a wheel bearing was needed. (yes i know that's not often, i'm just adverse to custom wear parts).
The inner races however do slip out of the hub no trouble at all but would still have the locking issues as even just the width of the e36 bearing leaves the e30 stub axle too short to lock properly.

If i flick through his thread correctly then he said they were too much and is using hub adapters, his brakes are still 4 stud.Rav335uk wrote:This is the kit "Snooka" is running on his, from E30.DE

The really sad thing is that most who want to go 5 stud are not the least bit interested in better brakes , big and shiny and cheap is good though, or beefier hardware. They are solely interested in a wider variety of big shiny council rimzDemlotcrew wrote:Or he just had custom inner races fabricated?

As long as M3 5 stud set ups are still readily available for Ca £1000- £1500 why reinvent the wheel? The M3 set up will bolt on and work CORRECTLY from minute one. You will automaticly gain better brakes and retain your ABS .
For 'normal' use there is nothing wrong with the e30 4 stud setup. If you really must go 5 stud , it will cost you plenty, however you do it.

And that's the issue I came to. The e30 M3 stuff is available for the kind of cash we are talking to buy any of the current properly engineered solutions.
If/when I knock a second kit up for myself then it will be for fitting oem 16" wheels and the bigger brakes, if looks is all your after then hub adapters are ~£250. job jobbed.
edit to add - one thing that cannot be ignored in all this is the function of the ABS and the brake bias produced by swapping things in and out, get this wrong on a road car and you could be in for a world of hurt.

Surely there are bearings out there sized to fit? I've still to have a look at the e30 spindle and an e36 hub to see what's needed though.
Been there done that, if only it were that simple.
I could be wrong but i think they are already in the hubs in the pictures on the site.Demlotcrew wrote:I don't see any sleeves with the 300mm kit and every product of his is TUV approved so no issues with safety.
Certainly looks to me like there is something inside the e36/46 hubs there.
Looks to me like a sleeve as the e36/46 bearing should be flat where the nut touches, that looks stepped?
The stock e30 hub is to small for the 5x120 pattern to fit in safely.buster wrote:There's plenty of room on front and rear hubs to drill and tap the hub for 5x100. Then re drill the extra holes into the disks. Then you could still use 4 stud ( for track days etc ) and using a 5x100 to 5x120 adapter ( h+r make some ) bolt on e36/46 5 stud wheels. Even if you fitted the Audi tt brakes you' d only have to bore 1mm from the centre and fit it ( or drill the extra holes so you can use the 4 stud wheels).
The outer of the e30 hub is only something like 130mm!
I never said re drill 120 , re drill for 5x100 which will fit safely. Then use h+r. Adapters.
