From what I found when looking these up they are all westfalia if BMW fitted either fixed or detachable but would have the BMW logos obviously you could back then buy the kit direct from westfalia so wouldn't have the BMW logos but I'm sure this one is the right

i have the car now and found this lot in the boot cuby hole ...
it has x2 keys and plugs in at both rear lights and even the tow board small loom is still there . so from reading the above i'd say it's the bmw optioned westfella

what was it from a touring??
I fitted mine to a 2 door 1991, everything was plug and play besides 3 cable's (which I just matched to the same cables on my loom and spliced them in) only because there wasn't any connector on my loom when there should have been.
i'll take some pics if I get a chance

i removed the whole tow bar from the car last week and when it was off the car upside down on the ground i tried to click in the tow bar bit,it goes in so far but wont go the last half inch and lock in.when i turn the handle next to the key the ball bearings retract about half way back into the tow ball shaft and it still wont go in fully and lock
who on here has a fully fitted working one that can help ???
just wondering if they use a seatbelt type pendulum locking device so it needs to be the right way up ................

looks like the seller knew as he's supporting it

There is a special secret and I'm not telling
Oh go on then. You need to pull the knob with the key in it away from the housing (only when the key is in) then it will go a bit further clockwise and lock. Then when you offer it to the bar and push it home, the finger at the back of the tow ball will release the knob and lock it into position.
I'm usually so good with secrets too

My (fixed)towbar saved my touring from serious rearend damage weeks ago,i was unhappy to lift £20 from the husband/lover/boyfriend of the young lady who rammed me up the arse...

Youth is wasted on the young.
