At the rate good cars are getting fragged anyone getting out now and thinking they can just dive back in and pick up a decent car for buttons in a couple of years time will be in for a shock.

this is exactly what happened with Mantas and Escorts.. everyone was busy trading and dipping in and out and suddenly I came to buy a manta and they were all the thick end of two bags for snotters..

you see those magic words *rare* and *hard to find* in adverts and the dealers start to push the prices of non-sport cars up and then you see people start to shell out 3.5K for a 18is and we all laugh and then in a year or two its the norm and you just cant seem to find the colours you want and all the 'middle cars' just dissappear and you are left with 4K for a clean shell or £400 for something without doors and then it's single figures of vehicles for sale on Ebay and then they're gone! I have owned a few Ascona's and was looking for one last year for about six months and in that time I think FIVE came up on ebay.. five... in six months..

I've signed up for life, I've got a 325 cabby and a black Tech II sport (to be restored). I'll be selling one of the houses before either of the E30s if times get hard.

We're coming out of a daft period where solid cars were getting fragged because they were worth more than selling whole.

The big question is how long will the EU lets us drive these old fuel gizzling carbon dioxide spewing machines before we have limits on mileage or we all have to convert to LPG. 10 years perhaps ?
