I don't smoke, but prefer the ashtray, looks neat with the lid, and in our day and age, even leaving some coppers on view in the car is a bad idea.

There are two BMW OEM specifically designed for non-smokers who want more space

Check it out on the ETK part number 72 60 1 943 - I think that it is called a storing partition - it replaces the ash tray

There is also a coin tray that sits in the door pocket - part number 51 41 8 110 033.

They are still available to purchase from the $tealers - both are approx Ԛ£15-Ԛ£18

i thought that was a good idea to use my ashtray for money, till i got in the car last week to find no stereo and the ashtray on the ground with no money in it, saying that they missed the bag in the door pocket with 24 pound coins in.

andy, why keep money in your car in the 1st place... especially 24 quid coins in the door pocket.... change them into notes or go buy some Meguairs.

All chrome turds have especially deep and reinforced ashtrays and door pockets , the idea being you put all your shrapnel there. Luckily because of BMWs forsight you will always have money to hand for day to day necessities like P40 , radweld and bribes for the mot tester ! :)

oi you i dont use radweld and it was the touring that aint got no chrome, not the cab thats got loads of bling bling chrome,

as for money in the car if you lived in london you would spend that in a day in parking on meters, so it is easier to leave a bit ready for when you need it, but not anymore.

Tbh, I think that storage partition replacement for the ashtray is an ideal place to put a mobile phone, and its in nice close proximity to the fag lighter for the charger,. From the pics it looks like its got some form of felt lining that would protect items?
