have voted unlock

it just doesn't seem right the way it is now....
i know its a hard area to police and not all the people will be happy with what gets decided-
i just cant understand why these rules wouldn't work?-

i)anyone can view
ii)anyone can post
iii)anyone can buy at their and the sellers risk
iv)only if you have 100 posts or more can you sell - this if the software does not allow automaticly will have to be policed by the mods and people who post goods for sale will have their post deleted and if they do it a second time they are benned from the site.

this is just my two cents on how i think it should work - while i appreciate people are probably sick of hearing how things should be done!! i have seen this work very well on other sites.

On another forum i go on.... when you post in the for sale section, you have moderation options to delete peoples replys in your for sale topic, and you can lock the thread when items are all sold, maybe thats an idea?

A similar situation arose on another forum I frequently use. This was solved by imposing a 50 post and 30 day membership minimum for posting forsale adverts. This including being able to reply to threads.

I say unlock, but with certain restrictions.

if its possible for the mods to give moderating powers to a new Mod for the for sale section only, then i think the unlock would work and be far more constructive.

im afriad i have also jumped on the bandwagon and voted unlock

the reason being that even if you see something for sale you want, there is a lack of photos, and when you are PMing the person who is selling the item you dont no whether he still has it or not, its all just a big waiting game

also when a sale falls through, the seller usually reposts that the item is for sale again. when they are locked, what is the likeliness of the user PMing the next person in line and telling them that the item is still for sale? faily low id say

i just think its better advertisement and easier to communicate with unrestricted forums

Some good points there peeps, extra criteria (as Jazzman pointed out) is also a possibility.

I don't feel the need for any mods to be specifically allocated the task of keeping an on the the classifieds just for the fact that a mod is almost always at hand.

i vote unlock but with some type of method where you are able to delete time wasters post who ask you loads of questions about what you are selling and then say not at the moment, it saves time going through pages and pages of drivel just like how you can delete PM sent in your inbox, but i dont think its to bad at the moment this has been my main section on the site and i get quite a lot of PM

i have not said a word untill now, just been watching, i think it should be unlocked to true zoners, and locked to the wam bam fcuk you man people that come in first post try to sell and never seen again which should have a min limit of, lets say 50 posts OR been a member for over a year before you can sell, its just what i think should happen.

Unlocked, people like to ask questions that might not be in the advert that other people might be interested in the answers ie location, P&P, pictures, etc

I vote unlock! Because if someone is selling a piece of s**t, fellow zoners can warn each other. Also if there are questions about an item the owner doesn't know other zoners can give advice (questions like will this fit...etc!)

whens this case going to close. looks like people are not going to be happy untill it is unlocked.

i got loads of stuff to sell. it really is to much pissing around with the unrealiable pm system. and as for leaving my phone number.....well thats pointless, people do not ring. they just feel more comfortable replying to the message etc. and ive not got a problem with that.

not being funny buts whats wrong with people just comming on here to sell something? maybe they havent got time to piss around on the other sections and they just want to clear there garage?

admitedly alot of the threads on the forsale section did go off topic or end up in a slaging match, but if this starts then just lock the thread asap, and give the said people a warning? wheres the effort in that?

this place is getting very quiet! is there a tumbleweed emoticon?
