No scott, have had my cab MOT'd with just the drivers seat in.
Unless rules have changed recently.

Oddly enough my wife was kind of pulled today just after our mot. She had driven the car to the Mot station for its retest with no tax or mot,she got all the way back home and off all places to find plod, there was one outside my house! Anyhoo as it had a valid mot cert we were fine. The officer was great and very understanding about having no tax as ive only had the car a few weeks and after a quick word about registering the vehicle in our name,he was off.

Driving a car with no tax,mot or ins a long distance is crazy i'd say, good luck to you but its a risk using it on a motorway.

Also,i had a completely stripped interior in my 325 touring, didnt have any probs getting an mot with a single seat in there

It's risky. All depends on the copper if you get pulled over. I've been let off for dangerous driving. But then pulled over for 'driving suspsciously', which is a poor exuse, and stood at the side of the road for 20 mins while they try to find something wrong. Of course nothing was wrong!

I'd probably take the risk. But I'm a bit

No idea. But it's bloody annoying standing in the cold for 20 mins with a drunken girlfriend winging that it's cold.

I've been pulled over because, and I quote the copper, "you were about to break the speed limit so I pulled you over before you did".

Yorkshire police are really tough on stuff like this, expect 6+ points, fine and say goodbye to your car, perminantly.

When you say the car is part stripped, how noticable is this?

It's one thing taking your chances, but if the car has no MOT (ANPR) and looks part-stripped you're asking for the police to pull you over. And I'd bet that under those circumstances the police will find something unroadworthy about it.

Not a risk I would take over any distance I reckon.

The car looks 100% complete from the outside and is a rather lovely looking 2dr diamondschwartz facelift. The interior is just semi-stripped with missing passenger & rear seats and part of the centre console.

It is probably in better order than most turds that already have an MOT

Hmmmm, why do you reckon it would fail an MOT then? Surely this is the definition of unroadworthy? Still don't think I would risk it. Just my opinion though.

i got caught and i have the penalty notice .... Ring your insurance company they will tell you the same thing... if you have no mot your car is not road worthy therefore you have no valid insurance ...

Don't agree

A failed MOT is unroadworthy
Unroadworthy is unroadworthy (with or without MOT)
But just having a lapsed MOT is a lapsed MOT.

Wouldn't want to try arguing it out with an insurance company though.

Your car is not unroadworthy just because it doesn't have an MoT.

A car that has done 500 miles in its first three years and one day of ownership, has been sat in a heated, dehumidified garage and been serviced annually at the dealers, but has not had its first MoT yet is unroadworthy?!

However a 250000 mile rotter that scraped its sorry arse through an MoT thanks to £1000 worth of welding 364 days and 55000 miles ago, and hasn't seen a spanner since, is roadworthy?

Are you really that dense? Get me the name and number of the person at your insurers who told you that and I'll get him his jotters for you.

You got done because your car was unroadworthy and therefore not insured, not just because it had no MoT.

I will scan my court fines and show you ... I got caught in 2007 . My car had ran out of mot 2 weeks before and I got pulled over by traffic officers. I got fix penalty and 6 Points. Any car without an mot is considered dangerous for road users therefore your insurance is invalid.
