No offence taken

However, I don't agree. I look at a car as a complete package, and somewhere that I like to be. If the interior is 'nasty', it doesn't matter how good the rest of the car is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Integrale is a bad car - far from it. It's just that I personally would not buy one because of the interior.

Genuine car enthusiast...me...you betcha :duck:

Fair play Ian, I don't think anyone could accuse you of not being dedicated to the cause!! :thumb:

Thanks everyone for your thoughts

A few facts I neglected to mention -
I consider these cars to be classics so the dated interiors/exteriors are plus point.
The Integrale would have to be an non-Evo as I can't afford an Evo and the running costs.
Don’t really need the car and I’ll be lucky to do 3000 miles a year.
I have no mechanical skills (I’d struggle to change the oil!) so I’ll be visiting the specialists.
No garage.

My thoughts -

Integrale
Seriously quick
It's a car I always promised myself I'd own
Looks fantastic
It's a Lancia. I can’t explain it and know you won’t share that with me.
Rare. Lets face it, I'd be making the world a better place by properly maintaining one of these.
but
It understeers.
It’s a high maintenance car. Allowing Ԛ£1000 a year for servicing and maintenance.
LHD. Apparently it's not a problem but it's got to be a hindrance when overtaking and driving quickly around left turns.
Risky car to buy. Plenty of poorly maintained and stacked cars about.
Too much grip. The limits of the cars are way above mine so I'm going to end up respecting the car rather than smiling my way out of corners.
Looking at the bottom end of the market.

325i sport
Oversteer.
Non turbo hence revvy and sweet sounding engine (I think!)
Cheaper to run.
Reliable.
RHD.
Plenty of peer support about.
Discreet.
Possibly add a few tweaks to bring it up to speed.
Looking towards the top end of the market.
but
Probably stop me owning an Integrale.
Maybe a bit too sensible.

M3
Seriously quick
Oversteer
Great engine.
M.
but
I don't like the looks. Sorry, just a personal quirk.
LHD

I feel bad dismissing a great car like the M3 for no good reason but this is a decision made by the heart.
Quattro’s got much more appeal than a Scooby but It’s just not a car I’ve ever lusted after.

There’s a saying that you should never meet your heroes but what about driving them.

So I can conclude, it should be an RHD M3 in a Lancia shell. Anybody got a spanner!

Right now I’ve decided to get the Integrale and change it for an e30 if it all goes sour. Mind you I’ll change my mind many times before I actually get one.

Tell me why I’m wrong!
