We did London > France> Spain > Italy > Austria > Germany > Belgium and back in a 325 cab, over 7000K miles and it never missed a beat all the way - Do it!

I may be collecting the turd a little earlier than expected. The seller needs to move it from it's current location so I said he can leave it in our car park. It will give me a chance to give it a good clean and inspect all the broken bits.

I can't believe I'd ever get so excited about the arrival of a 320i auto moredoor. It could be one of those signs I'm getting old...

Hope the car is a good 'un. :)

Trip sounds epic, certainly worth a go. Don't forget to charge your camera! ;)

We did France>Switzerland>Italy>Austria>Germany>Belgium>Back to UK in a week and a half using a £350 Rover 800. Super banter, great fun. Genuinely the kind of holiday experience you will remember for the rest of your life. :)

My uncle worked for the Saudi Air Force in the sixties. After his time was up he rode his motorbike back - but he only got as far as Italy before stacking it and spending quite some time in hospital.

Make sure you've got tip top medical insurance, that way you won't need it! :)

sounds cool you should do it,

id defo fit a few new bits, and keep a mechanic mate handy with you in the passenger seat !

two space saver wheels plus a normal one, long range fuel tank + jerry cans, other normal tools and bits maybe a head gasket set ? just in case

I know my way around an E30 'reasonably' well and as the mate who is up for the trip knows nothing about cars other than where the petrol goes, no doubt I will be responsible for keeping the turd roadworthy throughout the journey.

I think once I have the car and I'm mobile, I will go on the hunt for some E30 scrap in the local yards and see what I can salvage..

Top tip #1

Marks and Spencers Cotton sports socks= Ideal replacement for Reatr topmount rubber!

just tie it round the top of the shock rod,and you're good to go.

Had to do it on a Sunday afternoon in Bucharest- lasted 3000 miles til I got home :D

PS- I accept no responsibility for any injury or harm caused when following this tip, especially if using a Tesco Value (TM) sock!
