WOW! Lovely pairs of... hum... seats...
Ozzy, You must think of a style for your car, standart/original or tuned or cleaned or whatever you want. if you do so you can´t go wrong.
For me the e30 sport seats are just perfect for the car.
Having seen on several cars vader seats i got the feeling their are bulky and big.
For me they would enter an e30 if it had a e36 engine conversion (a big one, i might add)
e46 ones... don´t know... prob the same as e36 vaders...
But it´s a personal taste.
Altought i would like to have the e30 sport seats, i have a pair of pug 306 seats waiting in the garage for same steel working so i can fit one or maybe two... Just for kicks...
My car is a daily driver and i want it confy and the way i like it!
And i reaalllly love them seats.
Also check the similarities to a sports/m3 pattern! (can´t remenber whose photo is that...sorry... tell me if you know!)

Cheers!

those recaro classic c's are uber beautiful, has anyone got any pics of them in an e30, if so please post, and would they need much modding.
although i like classic looks i also like my car to be as individual as possible so to me styling over performance is my thing, but ant from A tech is hopefully ganna sort the engine side for me so i am at least credible

Bought a cab the other day, the previous owner had put E46 seats in it, still deciding if I like them, deep down I'm a purist, I hate big wheels & silly bodykits etc..

you know what i think im inclined to agree with the majority here, it just doesn't look right, too bubbly or something, i suppose that the lines of an e30 are striaghter and needs the interior to be similar.TPS wrote:Bought a cab the other day, the previous owner had put E46 seats in it, still deciding if I like them, deep down I'm a purist, I hate big wheels & silly bodykits etc..
nice one lads i think we have an answer. would just like to see those recaro classico c's in a convertible.
Oz
You'll probably right, one thing in their favour is the comfort factor over the E30 ones, they're mammoth seats, with adjustment on everything. I can understand people saying they look odd though.

Personally I find E30 sports seats more comfortable than E46 sports seats. Maybe I have an 80s arse
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap

You either like them or you don't...I do ..I fitted them in my cab and find them extremely comfortable and the alcantara is much more pleasant than leather on a hot day. As being difficult to fit ..I had no problem at all.

E36 E46 - no. Obviously no.
Those adjustabel elctric Recaros look vile. Like some over designed angular junk found in a Rover. I swear they look just like Rover 218 sports seats.
Dezzy / Barry - I can just about live with regular Recaros in an E30 but those M3 rear seats
You cannot beat the E30 Sport Seat.

Yes but the Norm is to mod.
All I ever see is molested E30's. I hardly EVER see straight ones and I'm always looking at E30s up and down the country.
Despite the alleged culture on the Zone of 'keep it original' the facts are that convention is to molest.

My favourite affordable Recaro seat is the ones that are found in the Rover 800 Vitesse's.
Half leather, black, highback, with "RECARO" stitched in red into the back. I've fitted them in a number of cars, and they always look really nice. Not too heavy, and the frames are easy to modify. They look at home in modern or retro cars.
Looking at £100+ or thereabouts for a nice pair.

I've a set of E46 coupe seats in mine and they look fine IMHO. Yes they're a bit hevier than E30 seats but since it's not a track car I don't consider a couple of extra kilos an issue.
Mine will never be concourse and I have no intention of entering it into shows so why shouldn't I have a nice set of comfey modern fully adjustable seats for a fraction of the cost of an original set in similar condition?
All this "Ooooh you've molested that" rubbish really gets on my tits. People change entire engines, suspensions, steering, rediculous stereo systems etc, etc with no-one batting an eyelid so why not an interior? As with anything if it's done properly with attention to detail it can actually work really well.
At the end of the day a car is a thing to be enjoyed, driving and owning. I enjoy both driving and owning my E30, I have fun playing on the roads and I really enjoy tinkering with it when it's on the drive so please forgive me when I say that I'll not give 2 sh*ts what anyone says about what I've done to my car because I'll have had a bloody good time doing it.
And breathe.....

Just because people on here don't like something doesn't automatically make them 'keep it standard' purists. I have non standard front seats in mine, but IMHO they're in keeping with the overall look and style of the car. You see it all the time with bmws, people sticking bits off later models onto theirs, and it almost always looks terrible.
E36 m3 vaders for instance are disgustingly ugly seats, about 20% too big for an e30 interior. Just because they're from a newer BMW doesn't make them better than e30 seats in an e30.
The e30 recaros are the obvious upgrade, but they're also hard to get hold of and expensive, why stick to BMW, there are plenty of other cars from te same sort of era that could be ordered with recaros. Heck, even various manky rovers!

@ harry_p i agree with the fact that you dont have to stick to bmw seats, as other recaros from other cars look the part also, its just if you dont have a idea of how to adapt them to fit in the car, and finding someone who is trust worthy enough to fit them for you without braking the bank.
if anyone can recommend someone i will gladly buy some other recaros and have them fitted.
cheers

Any pics of whats in a Rover 800 Vitesse? What recaro type are they as I'm not getting much on ebay or google.

No idea to be honest, but can't imagine they need anything more than a pretty basic subframe or adaptor. I know quite a few people have put them into metros which have simple bolt in each corner runners and must be fairly low profile otherwise they'd sit too high as the floorpan mounts are a few inches above the floor itself, whilst they're pretty much at floor level on an e30.

I've currently got a set of lancia integrale recaros on eBay which look very similar to the e30 ones. Would need retrimming obviously, and only suitable for 4 doors and tourings as they dont tip forwards, but surely worth more than the 99p they're at at the moment ;)

Right as the owner of both an '89 325i cab with recaro leather sport seats and a '04 E46 330d with sport seats I can say you'd be mad to fit the E46 ones. The ones in E30 are by far and away more comfortable and offer much better support, the only E46 ones that come close are the M3 ones but I still think that the E30 recaros are much the best. I've driven the E30 to the South of France in a day and not been at all sore whereas driving the E46 to the alps gives me a bad back!
