Its not possible on a like for like basis and even if you work on both cars you will get 190bhp from the e30 and 240bhp from the 328i so the gap would be even wider.

Your talking pup my friend, on a like for like basis the e30 325 will not under any circumstances blow the 328i away.
Its just not possible but mayber if the 328i is a shed or has problems then thats another matter but we are refering to a like for like here and not a minter against a shed.

What are you guys on seriously?????

The M52 2.8 engine is a far more developed and refined engine than the old M20 2.5 lump and as stock has both more power and torque than the M20.

A stock for stock race the E36 would win, it wouldn't rocket off into the distance but it would win hands down, they are a good torquey engine and the E30 much as I love them wouldn't be able to match it in stock form.

With the restricted manifold being removed from the M52 and being replaced with the 2.5 version you can gain an extra 20 odd bhp. Now you tell me what it would cost to get 20bhp out of an E30... you'd have to do a lot more to it than change a manifold.

Much as I love the E30's, there's no way a 325 would beat an E36 328 in a head to head race both is stock form. The allegedly slow ones that you've driven must have been shagged if they really felt that slow.

The thing is with E36's is that fast speeds don't feel fast like they do in the E30 because they're more refined, you don't realise you're doing the speeds you are.

That is a very good point, in my m3 it feels as if the car is docile but you look at the speedo and the car is pelting away yet in my e30 if you do 100 miles an hour you know your doing it.

Look at them on a modified scale and the picture gets better, the e30 with a chip and an air filter and exhaust system will give 190bhp on a decent car and cost around Ԛ£650.
the 328i with inlet manifold and a remap and an induction kit will cost around Ԛ£680 and give 235bhp and sometimes more.

hmmmm funny sh1t on here...

e36 would kick ass all day long and at any speeds!!!

however a good 2.7 with 200bhp+ would utterly rape a e36 328.... it will not however do 163mph (LOL)

if that lot on a e30 325 gives 190 i would eat my own underwear......you would be lucky to even make stock figures..trust me....

and the go faster stripes and LED washer jets will add antoher 20BHP

seriously though, i think the driver losing 15lbs or having a smaller knob would make more difference

Which backs up my point fully.
As for the top speed then thats crazy also as jays car only managed 167mph with a 3.2 evo engine with one off longer final drive gearbox and e30 m3 dif for 3.25 ratio and that was at 7300 revs so a 2.7 even at 6500 revs wouldnt be close and more likely to be 143 miles an hour.

EVERYONE goes to jail if they are caught over 119 miles an hour, it may be as short as 7 days but everyone goes to jail.
