If it goes through insurance they choose who do the work, but luckily I think the place next door is one of the biggest in the region, so hopefully they give me the quote in the morning and the insurance company get on the case ASAP.
To be fair the bloke was helpful, but was on business and lives about 150 miles away and is going on holiday on Monday..
Jim you choose where the car gets fixed, not your insurance company. If you can get a quote to match that of your insurers prefered garage, then they can't stop you getting it fixed at your choice of garage.
P.S. Does your insurance cover you for using your car for work? if not then i suggest you don't mention the PC incident to them.... just buy the parts required and bill the hairdresser direct.

Thanks for the info mate, I wasn't aware of that - I'm pretty hopeful that it'll be a good price as we've recently had our entire fleet sprayed the new work colours so who knows. As for the PC it was a job on the side, on close inspection it was just a suss HDD so I won't bother with that (more hassle anyway, I just want to drive my bloody car!). Cheers.

Sorry to hear about that geese, i know what it's like for that sort of thing to happen as my car got hit in a carpark but i did'nt know till i saw the car. Bumper was half way up the wing on the drivers side

All sorted now and looking good
Did your IS splitter take a wack aswell? I can't see it on the photo's and the pic facing down; is the wing dented in?
Cheers,
Jon

glad its all fixed but i gotta laugh at all the "hairdresser comments" form ppl who prob cudnt afford the centrecaps on the boxster.
for the record a boxster is an absolute hoot to drive, so well balanced, direct steering, nice wedge of power - esp in an S model.
so next time u decide to prejudge someone or their car think again.

What evidence ? , an extended test drive courtesy of yes car finance hardly makes one a marque expert !

. There is something about the boxster that is just not right , i'm not sure if its the 'which way is it going ' styling or the 'its not a real one ' stigma that surrounds it. As a sports car it is no doubt competent but not quite the real thing. Another car in a similar dilemna is the Z3 M roadster , a car that pushes all the right buttons on paper but somehow comes out as the poor relation to its tin top brother in the real world .

you can request that you want it to go to a percific garage as it is your right to do so
as it was not your fault so they will have to put up to your demands
not yopu to thiers

iS splitter was off the car at the time, i reckon that woulda been snapped for sure!
In the end I settled for a cheque off the bloke. I've had the paint sorted but still have a wonky wing - it was pushed in at the bottom and had the opposite effect at the top of the wing, there's a noticable gap when the bonnet is shut.
