I just don't want someone to make the sort of mistake I made, and then regret it when you've grown up (a tad!).

I'm not expecting it to be fast, I just don't want a slug lol.Joshy wrote:Quite the opposite!samts wrote: You do sound like an anal E30 fan though.

316i's are slugs, my 1.0 3cyl corsa was just as quick prehaps after 70 the e30 had the advantageBlitz wrote:Defo no slug. I was suprised how easyly it wheel spins in the wet.

Who's talking about 1.6s? - get a sub group 3 car, we all have to do it. A 1600 small hatch is expensive to insure for you at 17 for a reason, because you are young and inexperienced and hence a higher risk - why should my premium be higher in order to cover your risk?samts wrote:And do you know how much insurance is for a young driver at 17? A 1.6 Corsa is £1,700. I might aswell get a car I really like for the same amount of money.djk wrote:IMO, you're a mug if you pay £1700 for insurance - get a different car until you've got some experience and the premiums come down.

Not necessarily french shitters, but some FWD cars have their merits. Easier to control, bad cornering is snuffed out easier where a RWD car may pull a 180 on you and crash.I'm sorry, but you're telling me a french shitter is going to have better handling then a RWD car? FWD may be a little better below, what, 20-30mph, but over that I think a RWD will wipe the floor with one.
Every car should be RWD, allow the rear wheels to put the power down and the fronts to steer and brake. It's the way it should be, not allow the front wheels to do all the work, you want some balance lol.

with an attitude like that i think you have watched a bit too much top gear and played a few too many play station games.samts wrote:I know the E30 316i isn't the quickest car and I just don't want it for a bit of performance, I want it for it's looks also.

316i with either an IS splitter or an mtech 2 kit will look nice with some decent wheels.
Fack off bud. You really think I listen to that from Clarkson, you know a lot of things said on Top Gear is put on right for laughs?ross_jsy wrote:with an attitude like that i think you have watched a bit too much top gear and played a few too many play station games.samts wrote:I know the E30 316i isn't the quickest car and I just don't want it for a bit of performance, I want it for it's looks also.

fwd cars are sooo much easier to drive fast with less expierience. im fairly sure i could whip my ass head to head in my 1.1 metro againt me in my 325i sport as its just so much easier to drive and not trying to swing round and kill me. (btw, metro is what you want, i got given mine, let the hydragas out and de grilled it and it gets me to work and back and is a great laugh)
you said this is your first car right? so have very little driving expierence if non at all. get some miles under your belt before you decide how much more amazing rwd is cause it aint steering and powering at the same time. next time mr clarkson says that, igore him.

Sonny? Who the hell do you think you are to call me sonny?djk wrote:Get back in your pram sonny. You can't drive, so you don't know, simple as - none of the people on here who can drive are going to be that receptive to being lectured on the subject by someone who can't.

Oh please, grow up. Your poor showing is just going to put off these guys helping the next young lad who is interested in these cars.samts wrote:Sonny? You've made blanket statements about FWD cars like an expert, despite your only proof being you in the passenger seat around some country lanes and you've been (rightfully) called on it
Either accept it, or see if your sort of attitude flies on an E36 forum.

How old are you!?djscottfree wrote:im paying 800 quid which i thnk is expensive on my 87 325i, this is my 1st car and yes there real pokey even as standardim with bell.co.uk try them, 1700 is hell of lot you should be able to get cheaper if you shop around.
