Write off? some advice please...

Tari, phone the at fault insurance company and ask what is going on. Pressure them to admit liability.
Bare in mind, your claim handler will have loads of cases to deal with, if there is one that is going to get more money for the company, they will deal with that one first.

It seems rediculous to write off these cars when it is the labour charges that send the costs through the roof. Then they record it C or D which even if you buy it back and get a proper repair job done the value of your car has gone down.,when in effect the car could be in better condition than before with new panels and parts fitted.
Update:
I have now been referred to helphire by my insurance company as my courtesy car runs out on Saturday, therefore things are looking good in that area.
Although I have been advised by my uncle (a long time E30 fan and bodywork specialist - "Sira motors") to keep the car, strip it and get another sport, as the car has previously been written off, cat D. (This kind-off works for me as I will have all the spares that I need, even though I'm going to have to strip my baby to get them).
I'm in a dilemma now as looking for a nice sport isn't the easiest job in the world.. I feel like crying....

Yea.. They actually said because of the age its not going to be a big Merc or BMW, but I will get something along the lines of a Peugeot 607 or something. Anythings better then Matize though i guess.
Just need to find another e30 now.

Update:
I ended up with a Cadillac CTS... Loved it but complications come into it again..
My insurance tell me three months after the accident (still with no progress) that they can't cover me because my car has been previously written off.. and this is when my policy is actually due for renewal.. F**kers.
So now I have to fight to get my premiums back as they don't want to give me any no claims either.
Spoke to the solicitor referred by the insurance company and he says he can do a no win no fee thing, but helphire was on my case to give the cadillac back as I had it for three months. now I'm stuck, I need a car for when i go back to work on Thursday, and I only have £800 spare cash to spend on it.
The car assessor checked it today and said that its definitely a write off... Unsure what to do now as this has caused me so much stress.

I dont understand how the other insurance company can be getting away with this dragging on..
I think you are entitled to the hire car for as long as it takes to settle..
Sorry to hear about the hassle you've been having fella!

your insurance cant cover you??? it was the other guys fault!! what insurance company are you with?? they sound like muppets!
shouldnt matter that it was an uneconomical repair write off in the past. thats not a basis to refuse to help you claim off the at fault persons insurance. and after all, they entered into an insurance agreement with you on the car.
ring them back and give them a fu*king.
i hate insurance companies........ ther'e all w4nkers!
i was run into in my old mk1 golf years ago. it was a proper scrap box tho, rustiest piece of sh1t you ever did see!!
3 weeks till the ins ran out, was run into from behind.
they wanted to come and get it on a low loader.... i said no as it was perfectly fine to drive lights all still worked, uncracked too, but rear panel was all fubar and i opened the boot but it wouldnt shut again so i had to tie it shut inside.
insurance assesor came to look at it. said it was written off (no sh1t!) and offered me £100. i said no, he then said £250. i said yes. BUT they didnt even take the car.
i bent the rear panel back out using a chain and my dads gate post. and carried on using it till the test ran out.
