Well, went to see the car this morning.

Was VERY clean! no rust on bodywork at all!
Engine was quiet, not tappety at all.
Bonent was stonechipped pretty bad :?
Small scuff on back arch (might t-cut out!)
and no handle on the glove box.

Apart from that is was a good'n i thought.

Although, one question...

The sump and diff were both covered in oil... but there was NO leak, it was as if it had been smeared on to prevent rust? :? or maybe there was a leak before? either way that was my biggest concern :?

Any ideas? Cheers guys :D

Bump**** :( need a couple of responses asap.. think i might make the guy an offer :D

Was it new or old looking oil?
I wouldnt worry about it too much unless you can see a drip forming.
run your finger over the upper joint of the sump to check for leaks.

Bodywork's much more important than engine.
Bodywork takes a lot of time and effort to sort out, but there are plenty of low mileage (sub 200,000 mile*) engines out there that you can drop in a day if the worst comes to the worst.

As for the possible oil leak, you'll have to clean it all up with Gunk or similar, or a steam cleaner, and Keep carefull watch to see where oil stsrts appearing from.

It was older oil by the looks of it.
Yeah, its definately not leaking, just looked like alot of oil on the sump and diff?

We checked as best we could (no ramps etc..) and it look like it had been smeared on :? rather than leaked out.

I know what your saying, and the bodyowrk of this one was very nice, few stonechips on bonnet, but nothing to walk away from i didnt think!

Gonna give the guy a phone tonight, see what kinda money he's hoping for, then see how it goes from there!
