Well, I've never been there but I've asked similar questions of people who have and its supposed to be extremely relaxed for a milddle eastern country and westerner tolerant. The people I spoke to were not employed there (they were on RnR) so I don't know what the job market is like - but you wouldn't be paying UK taxes at least

as for coming here on a holiday i would not really bother unless you are visiting friends, nothing wrong with the place but Dubai is much better for a week, as more to do, they even have an indoor ski slope in one shopping mall - real snow too!!.
downsides are this is what you have from now till end of September hence my revised avatar logan

that sounds like a good start to me to me. people would be more prepared to buy british stimulating growth in all sorts of industries, more manufacturing, more buying and selling more tax revenue raised, more money going around returns the feelgood factor etc etc. its not that difficult and things only become complex and difficult when 'our masters' try to convince joe public that they are to stupid to understand to justify their own existence.march109 wrote: how about 10% VAT on all home grown products instead of the current 17.5%?
No taxing imports so more internationally acceptable.
all these people they give asbo's should be threw in the army and tought a lesson and off the street, the single mums of the asbo's should get nothing as most of them think open my legs spit one out and thats me paid for 16 years, have another one 10 years into that and theres 26 keep doing it till hitting pension etc i know of people who live like this and WERE ALL PAYING FOR IT! basically if there were no funds for single mums there would be far less single parents of kids who mostly grow up to earn asbo's. if they know they would not get any money or support or grants or free houses there would be 50% less pregnancys i rekon! job seekers should be threw in the army or do special plastic coppers jobs for there weekley funds. asylam sekers should be sent home am sorry but we cant sort out the worlds problems by funding them to sit on there ass's all day and steel our jobs that the asbo's can't get! if it carrys on i might seek asylam myself allthough if i tried america they would give me 2 very large fingers! tony blair should have listned to george bush over there immigration rules instead of bending over infront of him and shouting "harder" "deeper" george! this country sucks ass!

1) The number of "single mothers" abusing the system pales into comparison to the number of genuinely needy abandoned by loser fathers. Either way, the money they receive from the state is little more than the tax credits cohabiting couples receive for their children anyway, so the net cost is almost zero.
2) We pay more to maintain a soldiers daily life than we do to unemployed people. Putting the unemployed or deliquent into the army would INCREASE the cost to the taxpayer, and that does not include uniforms, weapons or other hardware.
3) Immigrants don't steal jobs. They do the jobs the English are either too lazy, or unqualified, or too arrogant, to do. The number of immigrants coming into Britain over the past 10 years has boosted the real cash flow of the economy into one of Europes wealthiest, unlike France which rejected immigration and is still struggling with 9% unemployment. Plus, how the hell do you want to police 9000km of coastline to stop anyone coming in?
By all means, have an opinion, but spouting NBP fact-devoid waffle just makes you look like a tabloid-reading slackjawed idiot.

Of course, to the original point, given the number of Chinese, Indian and other takeaway places, local authorities should be taking the wasted chip fat and sticking it in their buses. Lower diesel costs mean cheaper public transport, which means fewer cars on the roads.
Plus, I just got back from Stockholm. Four quid a pint, plus wine and spirits can only be bought from state-owned shops. If you want to cut tax from one place, you have to add it to another, and that's what the Swedes have done. It was a damn thirsty weekend!

The army has enough on its plate without acting as nursemaid to asbo-conscripts. When I was in, there were a lot of kids from single parent families, deprived areas and some of them already had criminal records but the crucial point was they had made the decision to go out and make something of themselves and get away from their past or where they had come from.
