Gazman tech1 made 163bhp
That link above quite a few standard sports made 163-167bhp range ish given their age and mileage
I thought most 325i would be producing 150-160bhp

2.7s don't seem to be making much more than the standard 2.5s. Is it really worth spending the ££ building a 2.7 when you can just use that fund to buy BTB, BBTB, mild cam and a chip?

In my view 2.7s are a decent step improvement over a B25. Especially with some engine breathing mods.
If you are looking for pound per bhp increase, M52B28 with bolt on mods is the most cost effective way

Also can we honestly believe BMW's stats of 325i producing 170BHP? Maybe BMW was keeping the figure low so as not to steal the M3's thunder...
A magazine (or two) doing a 325i vs M3 test at the time seemed to think the M3 wasn't much faster than a 325i (on the streets).

I think 165bhp for 170k mileage is pretty good going
And there were other 325i producing 165bhp and 174bhp respectively
Looking at the old dyno graphs I'm pleasantly surprised a lot of 325i are 160-170bhp

Gearing plus the 325i has more useable torque hence they are quite comparable in the performance stats87mtech27 wrote:Also can we honestly believe BMW's stats of 325i producing 170BHP? Maybe BMW was keeping the figure low so as not to steal the M3's thunder...

Also, 30hp or so will be half a second or so difference in 0-60's

Ah... The gearing and torque definitely would have changed made them feel similar on the roads.. Ik on the track it would be a different story a˜a

My M52 has just got Dan's exhaust manifolds and an m50 intake on it and did 223 on the last run.

The article posted by Pony about the M3's (written by Chris Harris) stated the handling on the E30 M3 was great, but even it had to be thrashed to keep up with the 325...?

I read that in Total BMW mag referencing another mag. I'll try to find the mag when I get the chance and upload it.Gert_8 wrote:The article posted by Pony about the M3's (written by Chris Harris) stated the handling on the E30 M3 was great, but even it had to be thrashed to keep up with the 325...?

Ok I had the New Scorpion Full Sports Exhaust System fitted
Last time
164-165bhp Tech1 Sport although had cracked centre box, Bosal rear box
And Shell V Power Nitro Plus
This time
New Scorpion Full Sports Exhaust System
I had 1/4 tank of Shell regular unleaded
Frantically trying to burn off regular unleaded petrol
Fuel light only illuminated on uphill section in Farnborough
Involved me driving getting lots of evil looks of everyone
I didn't get all the Shell regular unleaded removed.
Them filled up with £20 of Shell V Power Nitro Plus
Charlie said regular unleaded does not help v super unleaded
Anyway the scientific results .... I was hoping for 171bhp (secretly hoping for 180bhp)
....
