FFS!!!! Do not put any solvent based engine cleaner near the hood Rob. It'll f*ck it right over!

I'd say steam cleanings probably the first port of call. What you don't want to do is push the crap deeper into the fabric.
Totally agree, the stuff im thinking at the moment is upholstery cleaner, G101?? its totally safe on interiors and doesnt bleach anything so im thinking its worth a try but as i said, i want to run it past manufacturer first
was thinking a good covering of that then a steam clean off, but to be honest were concentrating on the paintwork first before the clean up lol

G101 is good but use it in very diluted form first and work your way up until it works.

Must be a relief to see that finally being done right. You're had a rough time of it - hopefully from here on in it'll be plain sailing! :)

Yea i always dilute it 6:1 with warm water, never tried it on a roof though so will test it on my spare mx5 roof first

Its an orbital air sander used on most panels but the fiddly bits round roof/boot/windows etc are all done by hand, cant afford to leave anything on the car as no idea whats been used previously, theres still lots to do but its definetly getting there lol, its took ages of hard work as there was a good few layers of paint to get through but starting to see real progress now.
Not sure exactly how long its taken as we have mechanical work booked in also which we try and clear before making a mess in the workshop again lol, everythings a lovely shade of pink though
:D
Simons still at workshop now, hes hoping to filler a few blemishes tonight and carry on the sanding down.

If anyone wants pictures or to know anything specific please feel free to ask and were more than happy to discuss it

Its looking like hes just shut doors/windows etc and just painted the outside so hopeful we can just key the doorshuts. The bootlid was taken off during painting so round thats being taken right down to bare metal, as it round the windscreen as were not prepared to risk our work and want a proper job this time!

Its really hard work, but trust me itll be worth it
