I enjoy the banter on this site I am well over 30 and speed is not my thing. you do not need to bang on about speed/power all the time. good luck to those who like all the power but do not go on about it and have a go at lesser E30's.As I say I like the forum it has given me help in fixing probs. and ideas for my car.Live and let Live is what I say.

For the MAJORITY it is. How many zoner's fathers pour 100's of pounds into their cars trying to tease a few extra bhp out of them and spend their spare time drifting around roundabouts??

He first considered supercharging but then was thinking turbo because i've heard S14s take well to f/i

but ended up going the proper way :D

I disagree, I personally like all E30's reguardles of engine. If the car is done to a good standard who cares what lump it has.
Dave, you know me, I'm pretty easy-going. I don't give a toss what engine anyone's E30 has got - any E30 is an E30 and that's why we're all here.
John's comment pretty much sums-up what seems to be the majority attitude here...... "If it's not an iS, a Sport, an M3 or it hasn't had an engine transplant or major money thrown at an M20 - diss it! "

..... And Ed(datourer)'s comment about age is right on the money too.

I had a Dolphin Grey 320 two door before my 325 and it was as much fun to drive as the 2.5 and drifted as well so who cares how much faster the 325 is you can only go so fast sideways. ROUNDABOUTS RULE!

Sorry Stu, Didn't mean anything personal by it.

There are a few on here who are a little quick to jump in with the "drop a 2.5 lump in it" comment when people talk about tuning the 2.0, but bhp per £ it's the best way to go to be cost effective IMO.

What really makes me laugh is when e30bmlover will argue that his m20b20 engined car is so great and faultles and yet he still plans to do an engine swap to the b25 engine, seems like he is a little confused! :D

Yep I agree. I had a 316 for 8 years and it was great. Cheap insurance, 300 miles on a tank of gas.

confused? i dont think so, the m20b20 will be staying in. iv decided to buy a 325i aswell. yes the 320 is a great car and shes served me well and will continue to do so for many years to come. the car is too good to go @ucking with it. im keeping her original and thats the final word on the matter. i will be on the hunt for a clean (if its possible) 325.
simon13, no i havent met you and proberbly never will, arrogant is the impression i get from you when you discuss the ''lesser'' straight six.

I currently own 4 E30's
An m30'd Tourer,325 tourer,a 320 tourer and a 320 2 door.
The 320 2 door is the car i use the most and provides as much fun for general use as any of the others!

My first E30 was a mint 320i that was at the last lakeside meet
This one is a 325i
Yes its faster
Yes its thirsty
Yes its louder
But my grin is still the same size
Because its an E30
be it a 320 or a 325 get what you can afford
id rather have a mint 320 than a Rust box 325
Dont buy a 325 just because its a 325 look at the whole package

Actually I own both a 320 touring and a 325 touring so am also well qualified to offer my opinions / state the facts.
The 320 was £200 with 15" BBS, leather tax and mot , that is the only reason i bought it. The £40 eta bottom end is being readied as we speak to cure the frustrating lack of forward motion :) .
If you are not bothered about performance and a nice spec 320 with a good body comes along cheap, yes no problem but if you need / want performance, the 320 will inevitably be a source of frustration. 325s are so plentiful and cheap and invariably better specced , so why bother trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear ?

Each to their own Pete.
If we all wanted exactly the same out of our cars then it would be a little boring on forums like this.
Not everyone wants to get from A to B as quickly as possible if we did then there are a lot of more modern mundane cars that would do that job better anyway!
This debate will run and run but the outcome will always be the same just like the iS/325 one.
Happy new year everyone

Maybe the need for a bigger engine could be compared to the 40 year old house wife with no boobs who spends thousands on a boob job so she can feel better about herself. We shouldn't need to feel that in some way if you have more of something you will be thought of as "better" than someone who has less. Walk tall, feel proud, and god bless. Have a fantastic new year.
