Lets look at this in a different way
Having a nice set of wheels on your car is comparable with a nice set of shoes on yer feet.
So Hartges/Alpinas are like a nice pair of Brogues, where as.................................
A set of bottletops is like wearing a pair of platforms with a fookin compass in the heel
Arguement over

I have been tempted to get one dipped in chrome but not sure yet... Think I would need to do 2 so I could see what they look like on one side. There is a place near my mates work that does chrome on everything, but he still hasn't got me a price yet...
And I voted bottletops are cool... Although I did just rip mine off for some 15" BBS's... So I think that also says they aren't quite cool enough.

They were cool in 1985 when steelies were the standard rim, plastic hubcaps were extra, and bottletops were the expensive option. BBS alloys were a £1000 extra then, and only the rich and famous had them, and they were very desirable. Cars were stolen just for the wheels.
Now a set of BBS can be had for £100 or just over, they are the only wheel that looks right on an E30, the bottletop being beaten into a distant 2nd place.

Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!

I need advice here.
My touring is sat on a set of BBS cross spokes that my wife hates cleaning. Also, the tyres are almost worn out.I have a set of bottletops 'in stock' with very good tyres on them, and my wife likes cleaning bottletop wheels.
Should I;
1.Spend £250+ on a set of tyres for wheels that my wife hates cleaning.
2.Fit the bottletops that she likes cleaning, have decent tyres already fitted.
Bear in mind when answering that my wife is known to be fiesty and I am a known tight git.
Touring in question has an M50 and covered 14k miles in the last 12 months.
Thank you,
Confused from Lincoln.

Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
Malcolm, my first E30, which was a 2dr chromie 325i manual had bottletops (
OH THE SHAME!) with 185/60 tyre on it and it was leathal in the dry and even worse in the wet! It did have mtech suspension but an open dif.
In short, if they were bad enough on a standard 325i, i would not be putting them on an M50 powered car!

Swap the good tyres from the bottletops onto the BBS.daimlerman wrote:I need advice here.

Dirty BBS alloys are still cooler than clean bottletops. ;)

If the tyres are 250 quid a set I suspect he's talking 15" BBS, or he has a particularly wealthy tyre dealer....George wrote:Swap the good tyres from the bottletops onto the BBS.daimlerman wrote:I need advice here.
