nothing wrong with Honesty, but no need to rub it in he may not have 10 bags,

from what I have seen/read he's slowly re-building it .. as and when he can , the same as 90% of other zoners

isn't that an enthusiast in the making ?

and yes I have seen it at the pod, doesn't look all that bad compared to some of the scrap that was there

lets face it, how many C2 pre-facelifts are left? can be counted on one hand i reckon :(
good luck to anyone attempting that kind of project, it takes a lot of determination and cash

give him a break Kos :D

there are enthusiast and delusional enthusiasts. you see all types of them on here and in the real world.

in regards to restoring the car, i have said its time he sat down it thought about it properly. my advise was to take it off the road, buy a cheaper economical run about for a bit and slowly save up and invest the money. so its not like i have laid into him with no substance.

he goes on about it like its the dogs bollocks, and people follow suit when simply its not. it can be, and its rare, but rare doesnt make a car good or valuable.

at santa pod, it was shocking, it was the 1st time i had looked at it properly, the 2 rear arches, inner rear were shot, under the fusr box ( in actually needs an inner wheel arch) these were things that i and 2 other well respected bmw legends noted

ok some work has been done, but its only a tart up job, a temporary repair that will last all of 18 months. he never posted the pics up for us to see the state of the front panel, rear valance and sills. just the car being masked up with the news of the worlds and some new silver paint on it

i'll give him a break when he realises and admits that the car is in a bad way. people giving him moral support and being kind with their words will NOT pay for the car to be done, it will not make him see sense in what needs to be done.

maybe he does know it but is in denial and wants to save face, but do i really care............................. no.

but i will carry on speaking my mind

Magie is a polishing god. I reckon even he is getting sick of using them innthe winter though. Powdercoat is the only way.
My RG reps don't ebb need washing as brake dust doesn't show up on dark gray. :woohoo:

Kos, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Generally what forums are for! My E30s are both heaps, but I still love 'em to pieces and will one day make my 325i into what I want it to be. Just needs money.... lots of money.

By all means, lay down your opinion and your side of the story. But if the recipient thinks differently then just dont bother. Not worth either of your time to spend arguing on a car forum.

Anyway, I have never drove an E30 with a later engine in it. Ross_jsy has an M50'd mobile over here which I would like to go in one day, to see what they're like.

As for the engines though, I have drove a E36 325i and M3 Evo. The M3 was fooking fast, but didn't really excite me all that much for an engine. Same with the 325i.

Personally, I like grunty engines that have that sound that those engines just dont have. Theres no feeling of brutallity from them. I had more fun driving a shitter of an 1.4 AX GT than i did with the M3. Dont get me wrong, I loved the car, but it would of been a daily car if I'd bought it, and my M20'd 325i would still be my fun car.

I would like to drive a stupidly powerful E30, or some 24v one. But I'm not fussed about speed, ecconomy, smooth power delivery or that sh1t. I like noise, grunt and handling. Hence the M20, BTB and Z3 rack so far. :D

As I said though, each to their own opinions.

Oh, and Rav. I had an E34 535i (you might remember...) for a little while. Loved the M30! Would love to see what their like in an E30!

Mate, I would of if I could...

I have to park my 320i sh1tter at a car park basically on the beach. 5 min walk away, need to move car frequently (once every day or two) to avoid tickets, so no room at mine to keep it. My project car is taking up a place at a mates house and I couldn't dump another one there! My dad's house currently has a boat and a kit car taking up all the room. Once my uncle gets rid of that fooking boat, I can have a perminant spot there, but thats reserved for the 325i.

So, either get £1000 back from the insurers to help keep the bank man happy, or take a crashed 535i to some imaginary parking space!

I loved that car and that motor. If only I had the space, everything would be done now!

EDIT: Planning on finally going to uni this september. Might be able to meet some zoners over there one day!

Haha, already a fat bastard, so no change there!

Massively interesting in games and programming (was a software dev for a year, before redundancy! :?) and the games market is huge and ever expanding. To me that is the perfect combo of interests + job! 3 years of an amusing course too!

One day, when my car is done, I might just pop up to a big meet in the UK... If I could ever work out how to drive on UK roads lol! I'm used to knowing all the main roads in jersey like the back of my hand lol!

If you ever come to Jersey (chances...) be sure to contact me! That way your garuanteed to be less than 10 miles away!

like what I'm seeing!

Some offset/general questions... Are 7x16's fine on the front (if so what offset is recommended?)

I'd like staggered, and 9x16's on the back (again what sort of offset?), and I'm guessing I'd need the arches rolled to fit them, or is it more work than this?

Thanks!

Not sure on the offset, but if your car is lowered (to about 40mm) then usually a bit of arch rolling should be done. I think rav swears by bump stops iirc.

Rav, just looked up where solihull is! My 2nd choice is Birmingham city uni. If I end up there (but more likely bristol) then thats much closer :D

Cool, just done some searching on here and it seems et of 20-25 on the front and 15 on the rear!

I need to roll my arches anyways as the fronts catch on the bbs' at the moment, which is annoying!

Give it a few weeks and you can run polished wheels all year round, rain, snow, salt. Lasts 3 times longer than chrome plating with no special treatment..
I can't wait. Might polish up a 15" BBS to test it :)

I do miss having a cheap e30 but what can you do? I'll just have to pull my finger out and get building. My M20 didn't put up with my driving though so it came out infavour of an m50b25.. Dezzy has those cams now.. and mighty good they are too. They will go in easy Dezzy just take your time :D
Oh I will mate. I won't be replacing them in a hurry. What spec were hey bob?
