people just see two lights on the front of a car they dont flash, 4 lights they do, reguardless of whether they are being dazzled. dont ask me why, i dont know how idiots minds work.
yes headlamps have beam patterns with a cut off to the n/s set at around 1% pointing at the floor. fogs lights also have a beam pattern. to spread the light at the floor that hit the ground behind the head lamps.....
hid bulbs are so powerful they over come an lens designed designed for 60w and light splurges out all over the place.
im a tester and ive failed 3 cars recently cus of headlamp aims being so crap on converted cars!

I personally dont understand 'what the big problem' is with fogs. I dont have any so therefore I dont drive with them on and niether did I when I did have them. They dont dazzle me. Its mildly annoying sometimes but it has never blinded my vision whatsoever when I have driven past a foglight demon. It annoys me that people use them because they think it looks "bad innit!". But apaprt from that I really dont have an issue with them.
Basically I cant understand how it upsets so many people when I've never been dazzled by oncoming fogs.

Thats my 2pennies worth :D

my 2 pennies worth is

"its illegal for a reason!" because they dont have a proper beam pattern to direct the light away from eyes of oncoming driver's

"Einstein"

HID's are fine as long as they are adjusted properly and not on cars with headlights at the same level as my roof lining.

You might until the car coming towards you has a driver that's bored, and the car has a blue light on top!

Of course this was to do with the fog light thread! Did you even watch the video? I was merely pointing out that there were similarities between the numbers of drivers with their fog-lamps on during daylight/clear conditions.
I certainly an NOT racist!!! :x

did it not occur to you that maybe they done it for the video. seeing as there was a lot of e30's it was planned and maybe they put there for lights on for "SHOW" i am not saying it was a racist comment but it was unfair

never been pulled for having them on...... people i know who have, have simply been told to turn them off.
south yorks police might be coming round to the "maybe we SHOULD be catching burglars insted of this hassling drivers malarkie" way of thinking??

£30 fine just like no seatbelt.

I have been pulled once for having my foglights on... I had just driven down a foggy road but the copper was hell bent I hadnt so I told him to drive down there and I'll wait he did and apologised.

also they can be blinding and people like you seem to have a problem with having rear fog lights on! Buy a set of good HID kit an fit them and align the lights, no longer do you need your foglights
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

I have front fogs, they do work, and i use them in FOG or combined with main beam to signal to people driving on the side/fog combination.

I admit that i tried the fogs on a country lane and found them to give no useable extra light, it was all close range which is not where you need it above 10mph, they also lit up the trees above the usual dip beam light cast but not enough to be any use, probably very annoying to oncoming traffic which is why they stay off unless needed.

Dont get me started on south yorkshires finest, they caught the lads who stole my old car and didnt do a thing to them, they got a fine for stealing diesel in it but nothing for stealing the car.

as you should know as you have one, e30s have a switch for either front or rear fog lights so you dont have to have them both on.

Not with the same downward angle as dipped beams. Driving with fog lights in conditions where visibility is not impared is illegal for a reason....

It's the volume of light rather than the power consumption of each lamp that's the issue. If you cannot see enough with your dipped beams, then get them adjusted.

It's very anti social, inconsiderate and above all; council to the extreme!

why debate it? its illegal to use fog lights unless visibility is reduced to a pre determined number of metres that i cant remember, end of.
my car is easier/safer to control at slightly higher speeds as it becomes more responsive and nimble rather than heavy and lumbering, can i now use that as an excuse for breaking the speed limit?
no i cant because its not up to me to choose what laws to break with impunity.
turn them off unless its foggy you chumps.

Exactly that , Pisses me off with them on behind me so i put my rears on and they soon switch off , Beam pattern is wrong thats why they can dazzle , Its illegal and comes with 3 points , Why argue , Its the law and you wont get round it

in an ideal world yes we should all be allowed to drive as we like, as every car and driver combo has different reaction times, strengths, weaknesses, skill, power, braking, grip etc. i personally have the dicsipline to drive as i want and safely.
as jeremy clarkson himself said, "an aston db9 can stop from 70mph in half the distance quoted in the highway code..... why cant i go twice as fast on the motorway????"

The highway code states that front or rear fogs should not be used unless visiblity is less than 100m. That is the distance between a set of markers on a motorway exit.
Most "council" drivers can't work that out so drive round with lamps on all the time. Still they wear burberry as well. What can you say!!

The Road Vehicle Lighting Regs 1989 also state that the max wattage for dip or main beam is unlimited. Only for cars post 1986 must they be a minimum of 30watts.
The bulbs just have to be e marked, ie type approved and whatever their wattage, they can be used legally in the UK.

So what it comes down to, is that if you drive with them on regardless, you will now be wondering if the driver in the oncoming car thinks you look cool or are just an inconsiderate dick.

In a lit up area, you can see where you're going.

Down a dark country lane it's a little more difficult, I seem to follow the lines in the road!

But others do not have the ability to react to your actions. So they make everyone tow the same line.

In an ideal world I would like to crouch in a clock tower with a sniper rifle and take pot shots at people, but its not an ideal world so live with it.

Inbreeding is breeding between close relatives, whether plant or animal. If practiced repeatedly, it often leads to a reduction in genetic diversity. A concomitant increase in homozygousity of recessive traits can, over time, result in inbreeding depression. This may result in inbred individuals exhibiting reduced health and fitness and lower levels of fertility.

However, they must then cull unfit offspring, especially when trying to establish the new and desirable trait in their stock.

[edit] Results of inbreeding
Inbreeding may result in a far higher phenotypic expression of deleterious recessive genes within a population than would normally be expected.[1] As a result, first-generation inbred individuals are more likely to show physical and health defects, including:

reduced fertility both in litter size and sperm viability
increased genetic disorders
fluctuating facial asymmetry
lower birth rate
higher infant mortality
slower growth rate
smaller adult size
loss of immune system function.
Natural selection works to remove individuals who acquire the above types of traits from the gene pool.

This is going nowhere

Driving with fog lights, and no fog is illegal. If you drive with fogs all the time, you are breaking the law. It's not big. It's not clever. Don't do it.

This thread has come to an end.
