V8 on the way!
Bigger lift & wheels would be on if I didn't already have such a squeeze under my house to get it off the drive!! (I designed and made the lift to be as high as I could go and still get under the house)
See what I mean:
The front light clears by 6mm and the rack clears but 15mm (at the back). The water carrier on the roof scrapes the RSJ unless I accelerate at the right time to make the back dip as I go under.....
If I move out of Bristol, I'll build a garage big enough to do a bigger lift & much bigger tyres although getting in & out of the car becomes more tricky then!!

Fair enough!
Without all that stuff on the roof you could upsize a bit... but I guess its needed.
Accelerating to dip it under the rsj... bit like me accelerating to lift the front to get up on my kerb.

Roof crate always in use for lugging stuff around - but came in super handy for ferrying people through the floods (6-8 carried inside, 3 or 4 on the roof and one on the ladder!)
I think one trip I had 13 people (14 including me) on/in the vehicle. Made light work of it and kept them drier than trying to wade through the water!
This weekend there was a Jap show (JAE) at Peterborough. It was quite funny to see the posts where they were complaining of their shined up Delis getting 'ruined' in the rain!! While they were 'suffering' the 'bad weather' I was needing a bilge pump for the inside of mine.....but know what I would rather have been doing. And would do again without a second thought....
Yeah - guess who is desperate to build one now?? (he'll probably have one finished before the water is all gone too.... )
I tell a lie - he was desperate to build one from the moment he saw mine in the flesh a few weeks ago (photos do NOT do it justice!) but since the floods, he's seen how capable they are beyond a fancy lift!
Come on Damo - what's your excuse for not having one built yet??
Air suspension probably would but you cant beat a dual shock setup on a 20" lift with 36" tyres..... just knock a bit of your house down (with the deli) to get in and out...

Thanks Ian - I really appreciate it... As you say, the project will be on hold for some time yet - but knowing the wiring is sorted is one of the biggest hurdles out of the way (the puddle they call Worcestershire/Gloucestershire being the biggest hurdle right now!! )

I think Dameons dry suit and scuba gear would come in handy when he has to fit the exhaust/connect the prop etc....
We'd have to be careful not to flood the engine though.....BOOM BOOM!!!
i know every ones said it allready but well done bruce, thats what being british is all about, blitz mentality and all that.
good to see the deli doing what you designed her for, i still cant get over how well it corners on a road, proper multipurpose vehicle. thoughts go out to all those affected by the floods
Good luck with it all and hope it doesn't get any worse. You lot have been hero's! Really restores your faith in people hearing about things like this.
It is insane weather around this summer! My girlfriends family have just been evacuated due to flooding - this isn't in the UK though - it is in Sudan - in the middle of the African desert (or not as the case may be now!)
I just hope somebody realises that building on the flood plains is not the best idea...
was in the gloucs/tewkesbury area today to deliver ice cream of all things, should of heard some of the things they called me when i arrived to deliver
I only just logged on to the Zone. I hadn't realised how bad the situation is for some fellow Zoners (I thought I had it bad cos it took me longer than usual to get home from work and filled my E30 with water a bit!!).
My heart goes out to Dameon and anyone else affected by the weather.
Much respect for all the work that they have done for others oer the past week!
Blimey thats incredible, have top say we have been lucky down here, the worst we saw was on friday morning when the water got to about 10 inches deep outside work, it was all gone though about an hour after it stopped raining, all the canals and rivers are still really high though. You guys deserve a medal.
theres a dameon advertising for a touring in the back of total bmw this month, hope it isnt him after a replacement for the blue one after all the hard work he put in
No longer self employed but still available for welding duties.
