My m52'd mooredoor has owned many a "hot hatch" and more..... They just don't see it coming
Sure its not the fastest motor on the road but type r's, megan sport's, clio sports, astra coupe turbs, corsa vxr's, and many more have all been shown the ropes and the best bit, never judge a book
I've had about 3 e46 330ci's try their luck and fail misserably, and a very cocky prick with his wag sat next to him in an e36 m3, looking across at me with the fatest grin got embarressed!! The look on the face of any of them is priceless and camera worthy that the 23yr old 3 series disciplins them.
I always give em a big old

couldnt agree more best feeling ever
There's always a need for more power though, I've had naughty thoughts of m50 turbo but utilising my m52 internals... 420lbft sounds real tempting. Pricey though so that won't be for a while!
My m52 still puts a smile on my face and wipes smiles off other peoples though so WIN

hey dk what kind of power is your m52 putting out, ive just done a conversion but havent driven it yet due to exhaust manfiold issues, its all running but pretty much uselsess without an exhaust or proper danthe steering linkage, what kind of ballpark power fiqures am i looking at???
bearing in minds it srunning the 328 box mated to a s.325, lightened m20 flywheel, and a m50 inlet manifold.
sorry if its a bit off topic just heard a lot about the m52's, want to know if theyre really as good as they are made out to be.

I agree with most of this but i had my 23 year old 325i touring rolling roaded not long ago, and it made what i thought was a very impressive 168.4bhp completely standard.Rtaylor2208 wrote:Haven owned and driven the 2010 type R, 2008 Corsa VXR, 2007 Asta VXR, 2006 Focus ST and 2011 RS 250 Megane. There is no way a STANDARD 325 would keep up with most hot hatches these days (and I mean hot hatches none of this mildly warm fiesta zetec pish).
There all around the 6.5 Second 0 - 60 mark. Pretty sure even when brand spanking new the 325's were about 7.5 seconds to 60 and there is a good amount of ponnies will have bolted the stable from its original 170BHP.
Dont get me wrong I love my 325 and it feels a lot quicker than the speedo suggests most of the time but a standard 325 is not that quick by todays standards.
Keeps up with civic type r's, smokes mk4 golf gti turbos, etc etc.
The ultra quich hatches like corsa vxr's and the like are bloody quick for what they are trho.
PS, my 325i is stripped so bit of a weight advantage

Lots of talk on here but I managed to beat an f1 Mclaren off the lights this morning with a 316 touring fully loaded with wardrobes and cement bags. EASY.

Your prob looking at around the 220-230bhp with a good map and most importantly a free flowing exhaust. Couple that with a smidge over 1200 kilos and it makes for a supprisingly quick road ripper!
Obv this engine in an e30 would desimate its counter part that the engine belongs in

I once tried to race a Boeing 737 as it was coming into land, the road ran along towards the air strip where it was coming down, the road lined up just as it was over head so I went for it...
They're quite quick to be honest...

I had the sunroof open so on approach he would have seen the 320i badge, then going above me, the Auto selector... So thought he had to race too...suchy wrote:320i auto power vs commercial airline...
It was close, for a moment
Yes, and infact i missed out on a group buy for a remap and dyno tune on here unfortunately. I don't see much point remapping it if its on a m20 system though atme30-dk wrote:Well I'm prob knocking on the door of 240 then Paul
Ever thought about giving your ecu to Danthe??
(Another shameless plug there Dan) haha

Ah right, well in my build I budgeted in a full custom free flow stainless jobby. Infact it was the last piece of the jigsaw for me.
Built the car, re-insured it, taxed it then had the exhaust done. Drove away from there beaming and still smiling now!

I've been thinking about driving it up to your neck of the woods and getting a custom one done at the same place as you got yours (not a lot of decent places around here to do custom bmw exhaustse30-dk wrote:Ah right, well in my build I budgeted in a full custom free flow stainless jobby. Anyway, staying on topic. Nobody wants to play with my car around here, i beat a diesel escort once.

Every once in a while, we get a work truck to play Top Gun real loud with the windows down as the pilots are walking out to the jets. Most just take it in stride, seeing the comedy of it. But some are serious and get all pumped up when they hear it,

I blew a Nissan almera in my 32 ton hookloader today. True story.

i took out some black boi that was giving me dirty looks in his astra sxi on the a3 in my poxy 316i, its surprisingly quick tbh, redling to 1st then shifting to 2nd spins the tyres out! even in the dry, btw they still have plenty of tread!
its weird sometimes it shifts and surprises me, but somedays it bunny hops picks up speed slowly, and yeah, when its not acting like a bitch its pretty quick
