I removed the bbs ready to remove the bald toyo proxy tryes, refurb and the fit some winter tyres.

Replaced a knackered aftermarket lower arm which has only lasted 6 months with a propper one.

Threw on a some 14inch steels with the balloon tyres on for now.

:)

None are too far gone but I thought it best to get them all nipped in the bud before welding would be required and before the winter salt-fest begins! Will be picking it up on Thursday hopefully. :)
And collected! :D

A good job appears to have been done, really happy with the colour match which isn't easy on 25 year old paint. The chariot had even been washed and valeted which was an unexpected bonus.

I finally put all of the gear linkages back together with new washers, clips and bushes. What a revelation. It changes so much better. I drove to the motor factors to get new brake pads, but they had not come in yet. While in the shop some $&@?()&$ stole my rear BMW badge. This used to happen to my air cooled VW in the 1980s, I had hoped it was no longer a past time for the sad and confused.

Maybe you can now change gear so quick the badge fell off?

Mine was 30 last December but we don't have anything like this.

Europe are proposing a 30 year historic status but what that'll mean in terms of allowed useage etc no-one yet knows.

New Bosch wiper blades - worth every effing penny of twenty quid.

No more noise, no more smears.
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps

Cracking sunny day in Norfolk. So I pretty much drove the wheels off the "is" windows down, still warm in a t-shirt! Can't be many more days like that to come this year :(

Lovely day, so quick wash and buff, then out for a cruise around Dorking, Shere, Guildford, Woking, Ripley with the missus, windows up and wind-deflector in place to guard against the autumnal air. Seems so dull against other zone members weekend activities!

Done plenty of driving in mine over the past week. :D

Last Saturday I added 400 miles to the odometer by driving it from Norwich to the absolutely lovely North Wing of Leny House just outside Callander in the Trossachs National Park. Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful setting:

http://www.lenyestate.com/accommodation/The_North_Wing

Minimal preparation was needed beforehand. Tyre pressures, engine and transmission oil and coolant levels all checked. My biggest dilemma was whether to complete the journey on 15" BBS with aging Vredestein Sportracs or use my 14" Bottletops with Goodyear Ultragrips. As the weather looked OK and reasonably warm for this time of year the BBS won. The Vredesteins are nearing the end but still had a good few thousand miles in them. My wife is a professional photographer and the E30's boot easily swallowed both our luggage and her assortment of cameras and tripods.

The drive up was fairly uneventful barring very heavy rain on the A1/A1(M). The standard of driving is quite appalling at times in this country. Visibility was so poor it made sense to have foglights on but you get some muppets who don't even put their normal lights on! Their funeral! Usual mile upon mile of middle lane hoggers cruising along at 50mph. :(

Driving standards and scenery improved from the A66 onwards and some of the roads north of the border are truly stunning. Door to door it took us 9 hours in all but this included a rather leisurely breakfast at McDonalds near Kings Lynn (classy!) and a very nice lunch at a farm just off the A66. Time at the actual wheel was probably 7.5 hours.

Once in Scotland plenty more driving around the Trossachs area and various Lochs followed. The weather was never particularly fantastic but the epic roads and beautiful landscape more than made up for it. You can quite easily just fill the car with fuel and happily drive around for a day. Plenty of hiking/trekking completed and plenty more pub lunches and local food consumed!

We returned home yesterday in 7.5 hours after driving pretty much non-stop barring a couple of quick pit stops. Overall figures were 1200 miles at 32.1 mpg. A similar trip earlier in the year yielded better economy - a combination of better conditions combined with the 14" wheels? The E30 itself performed faultlessly throughout and the smooth M20 donk just loves these types of trip. The old barge done itself proud. :)

Spotted only one other E30, a black 2 door G plate saloon, near Loch Lomond.

now all i need to do is find the battery drain, sort the tacho, fix the inetrior lights, re install the elec windows etc etc etc :D

but theres no rust to photo now... oh apart from the bit in the valance and the bit in the boot pocket, il get those done but the weather is not the best, at the moment, for welding outside in the street :)

never fear iv taken quite a few photos as the rust was chopped out and whats gone back in, its just time to put them all together on here, i think Daz would be proud :)
