Finally finished my exams on Friday, so i had time to do a wee project over the weekend. Hubble had contacted me a bit back to see if i could do something based on his sport in a style similar to my sig. I'd been wanting to try the technique on a larger scale, and seeing as his car is mint it was the perfect base to start from!

It turned out quite well so I thought I'd post it up to see if anyone wanted to use it as a background.

There's a link to a big version of it here for anyone that wants to use it:

As always, constructive criticism welcome 8)

Cheers for the comments 8)

Oakey - I ditched quite a lot of the detail on the car to keep the design simple (no door handle/wipers/roundel etc) so I think it might look a bit strange if I put a lot of detail into the wheel. If I do another one of these at some point though I'll probably make the whole thing more detailed so that all the spokes etc on a set of BBS wouldn't look out of place :thumb:

Nah, although I sometimes think I should have done something along those lines.

I study French and Spanish translation at uni which is why I'm in Geneva at the moment. All finished here though, so I'm heading to Spain sometime over the next week or two :D

You've got a good eye mate, the Grand Theft Auto artwork was the original inspiration behind my sig!

The picture is a blend of a lot of methods. The outline and most of the blocks of colour were drawn out using vector paths, then a stroke was applied to the outlines and the colour blocks filled. I used gradients for effects on some areas and old fashioned brushwork on other areas. The idea was to make something that looked like a vector image, but just by using the tools available in Photoshop CS2.

I cheated with the kidney.... it's lifted straight from the photo, but I reckon it looks fine :D

Nice work Alyman. As someone who's recently got addicted to messin' around in Photoshop, it's ace to come across what and how they've done it. I think I might try something similar with my old bus. Spot on!

Took me ages to be honest mate, probably about 4 hours. A lot of that was the learning process though, trial and error, and reading up on how other people had gone about making this type of art - I reckon next time I'd be able to do it quicker!
