Hi, I am looking to lower my 325i touring and was after a bit of advice. It is only on 15" bbs's, on 205's. Do 40mm drop springs cause any rubbing issues etc or are they safe for normal use (carrying 4 people about etc). I need to use the car for day to day use but its floating around as standard. I will be changing the shocks for something sensible to support these.
This is not a track car, I am just trying to improve it a bit and would appreciate any experienced pointers, Do's and don'ts. Thanks

hi mate. -40 shouldnt cause you any problems.i have the same on the rear of my touring and my 17" alloys dont rub on the arches. a -60 on the front gives the car a more level look. if you dont mind spending a little more cash get uprated shocks. i use the bilstein heavier duty shocks with spax springs for a firm but comfy ride.

Thanks Fuzzy, Appreciate the info, that is exactly what I want. I am new to E30's having moved on from Golf GTi's. I have experienced some nasty rides in golfs and don't want to get this wrong . Spax and Bilsteins it is. Do you have any suppliers you would recommend,

60/40 for me as well on 15" 205's

A set of H&R anti roll bars would also be a great addition

I would recommend no more than a 40mm drop for daily use there is little to be gained from anything more extreme and problems of tyre wear and other handling issues can be a result. IIRC tourings have mtec springs as standard new ones of these and boge mtec shocks wouldn't be a bad bet to be frank combined wih uprated arb's this spec would have the beating of most after market set ups IMO

I have not found any handling issues, but the front ball joints wear more. I understand E36 arms cure this but im still looking into it

And on the E36 forums, they are fitting E30 arms because they reckon they are stronger...

I can honestly say it is still pretty smooth. On country lanes it is a little bumpier, but over all everyone had said they're surprised how smooth it feels to ride in. :)
