I think I would quite like that! winkeye

Seems to me I think I will be ordering 6000K, I just don't like yellow lights, even though its very slight, I like the blue tinge instead

The 'decent' HIDs I have, and the cheapies are both 4300K. There's nothing yellowish about the light whatsoever, in fact it looks quite blue against the normal H1 main beams.
No idea what the 535d has, as I've not seen them side by side yet.

I've got a 4300K kit on my '89 E30 and there's no sign of any yellow in the lights, and certainly not when you face them. Very similar to the OEM Bi-xenons on my main car.

I'd really like to see them side by side. I ordered 4300k and when they arrived the colour scale on the side of the box showed 4300s to be yellow. I was thinking about French style yellow. Once I had them installed I was really pleased - brilliant white light and nothing yellow to be seen. I haven't seen any 6000k in the flesh, but if you're after a brilliant white then 4300 are great, definitely whiter than standard halogen and without any blue either imo. I think they just make the mains look a bit yellow.
In the same way that a torch with flat batteries looks yellow :)

after reading all this here is my 5 cents:

I've converted BMWs from H1 to HID long before those kits were on the market and I did it to low beams as well as to high beams. I never had a bulb fail on me in the high beams BUT ther is a clear disadvantage:
At least in Germany you can hardly ever drive with the highs on for more than a few seconds and since the HID takes several seconds to reach maximum output the practical gain is way less than what it is in theory. I ended up using 80W H1 bulbs in the main high beams and has some additional Hella after market HID highs mounted.

About one year ago I converted my wife's E34-535i to a kit with 12.000k bulbs. At that time I believed the higher the temp. the more light - now I know better :D But funny enough the light is still much better than my converted ones using original Hella ballasts and Philips burners (you actually don't call them bulbs, at least we don't in Germany).

But I already had to replace both ballasts (luckily under warranty still) because they 1st started eating fuses and at the end they were dead entirely. They also seem to send some sort of a pulse into the system, because I'm also running this car on GPL and whenever I switch on the lights the GPL DME automatically switches back to gasoline operation. So I guess there is a difference in quality between genuine BOSCH / HELLA units and the Chinese BOSCH units :D

I even have HID in my good old Moto Guzzi LeMans 1000.

i've email the seller asking if they are geniune bosch germany and this was his reply:

hi

This is a genuine BOSCH HID product which has no connection to BOSCH Germany which doesn't make HID kits at all and never did. I've been told by supplier that its BOSCH engineered but its a genuine BOSCH HID kit which is sold everywhere in the world as a top class kit. I've contacted all the customers who are more then happy with product and do not want refund and i will make sure that in future customers don't confuse this with BOSCH Germany that does not make fuel pumps either but there are high quality BOSCH fuel pumps as well. Hope this clarifies everything.

Regards,

YEEEEEEEEEEES :flipbird:

"genuine BOSCH HID product which has no connection to BOSCH Germany"
What a BS. BOSCH is a German company. Makes to me as much sense as if someone would say
genuine ROLLS ROYCE product which has no connection to ROLLS ROYCE Germany.

These guys have no problem to tell you the wildest stories just to make you buy their product. But the price is ok so just give it a try - just don't be disappointed if you don't get RR quality for the price of a Renault Logan.

I've got a set of that seller 'just plaza'.
They've been on about a month and I've had no problems with them.

They're definately not Bosch Gmbh quality, the connectors are a bit 'Fisher Price' but it all fits and works ok.

I got the 6000k H1 kit btw, £42 inc delivery, only took 4 working days from China.

Cheers,

I was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the connectors. I've seen far worse on French cars!
I did treat them to some silicon grease before assembly, though.

If you look carefully at the stickers, the company name is "Bosch HK" which I assume stands for Bosch Hong Kong. A bit like me registering a website at www.e30zone.info. There's nothing in common.

What I don't understand is why people think that chinese products are cheap crap. They're not. Chinese standards of workmanship are extremely high. They also have lower costs (labour, energy) which you may take a dislike to on ethical grounds - but the main thing going on here is pure brand snobbery. So many people have swallowed so much marketing and PR bullshit over the last 30 years that they are prepared to pay £75 for a white T shirt with a certain logo on it despite it being identical to a £5 plain white T shirt. Why pay someone else £65 to advertise their product?

The questions on this thread should not be "Is it genuine Bosch?" but "does it work?". They do. Even if they didn't you could buy another 3 sets and still be paying less than some £300 "Genuine" kit which does exactly the same thing, but has that reassuring sticker on the bit you never see.

If these units were bad or a rip-off we'd have noticed by now and passed the bad news on.
