Looks good spadge. Is that an alpina 6 branch tho? Looks a bit strange for some reason? Not sure why.

Are you going to restore it back to its former glory? Did they not have alpina on the rocker covers originally?

Its the original 6 branch which was cleaned-up when the head was off last year mate.
No Alpina on the rocker cover unless you had the full blown 2.7 as far as i know.
I'm going to work my way through all the parts of it that i don't like and go from there but for now its staying :D

Nath are those figures above based on one fitted with the 6 branch and exhaust/cam and Alpina map as i would be a bit surprised if that lot only added around 10bhp?

Thanks all 8)

I think it's without 6 branch mate. I'd expect yours to be closer to your estimate. 5% from a 6 branch seems acceptable for a power increase?

alpina rocker covers on the e30's and the earlier cars (e28/23/124/2 etc etc) were only ever finished in black, and never had the alpina lettering embossed on it. Unlike the likes of Hartge or schnitzer who had nice fancy covers on there conversions.

Latter cars such as the e34/36 etc had some id from alpina on them but this was normally in the form of an oil sticker with alpina recomendations on it.

so black it should be!

keep it all original though spadge, I'm sure you will, original cars are so much nicer and in the end far more desireable than those with 'bits' added and changed.

Cheers for clearing that up Andy :)
Should the BMW lettering on the cover be alloy coloured though?
This cover was re-painted when the top-end overhaul was done last year so i'm not sure if it is meant to be 'all' black or not?
The eyebrows have been removed and that ALPINA logo (boot badge) has been removed from the front lip :D

Its certainly a great looking car Jules - are the tinted indicators/side repeaters original? If not are you going to change them?

Agreed the uber-council numberplate needs to go!

Looks really nice.

I reckon the indicator lenses are aftermarket items as it would have come as BMW intended with the alpina bits on it. I also feel that if you put the original types back on it will lift the front no end.

The rocker cover, no just plain black, satin at that I think. You see some with the raised parts back to ally, but thats normally due to wear off the top part or another owner doing 'his' bit.

both my e23 B10's and the e28 B9 I had retained their original rocker covers and this is how they were finished. Looks a bit plain when you compare the hartge with the C2's!

CAZ7991, another nice looking motor mate. Think i prefer this to the white two door you offloaded, must be an age thang. Another Werners pater?, dont mind if i do. BTW if anyone,s wondering how Spadge manages to find so many decent motors, its cos he gets off his ar*e and puts the effort in, End off.
PS. can i borrow your engine hoist this weekend :)

They aren't standard indicators! Spadger, thats one strange replica front spoiler, whats going on with the fog lights brake ducts are and oil cooler grill?!

Image
best picture of my engine. They aren't painted black at all. It's a grey, gun metal type colour on the E30's

Simon i know its not the original front spoiler that is obvious.
The genuine ones are fiberglass and as brittle as feck so no surprise it hasn't lasted nearly 20 years.
I actually prefer the one i have original or not.
Behind that mesh is a proper Mocal oil cooler in place of the bog standard thing that would have previously been there.
