Kevin Bird holds the official Hartge register for the UK Iain, he has records going back to day 1 of Birds although not from the other company who briefly had the franchise, I'm sure he could provide you full details (minus personal data) of all the variants he has done, would be interesting to see how many are unaccounted for. Thats full conversions, not kits that were sold on. Would seem to be a good starting point and would help you validate real cars from unnoficial cars like Spooks (although his car looks great!, love those headlights especially)
Cheers,
Tim

I have Kevin Birds support with the register I am compiling.
The Birds register is not comprehensive and by building a register will hopefully bring in the overseas models as well which Birds do not hold.

Fair call Mr A.
Non factory or non-concessionaire built cars will be put into a separate section.
Factory built or officially built concessionaire cars will be placed into the 'original build' section with as much detail as possible.

Does mine qualify
You know it is a Hartge BUT no records currently and Birds cant confirm!!!
Maybe we can find some info at some point...but she is an old girl and plan to restore as it would be a shame to track her
Cheers

Iain
I abandoned the idea to update the induction system as when dismantled the inlet it has been ported out so putting it all back together but want to get it running better with all those vacume pipes...going to get the floor welded and replace some bits rather than break it...thought as it was so old was worth keeping as will be 25 years old soon...it has interest value if not money value

Oh God, not that Alpina 'manufacturer' bollox! Manufacturer my arse, they don't manufacture anything but they do nicely modify a BMW. But to be fair Hartge do a more interesting job with less compromises. Well, with the E30 anyway.

Think it will be both of good interest and value, the true identity will surely be revealed one day !!

The file of paperwork and reciepts hopefully will turn up one day...investigations show they went missing from the car in the last 7 years so who knows...but apparently a £6k invoice in 1984

Just a suggestion, but as there are bound to be lots of Alpina owners out there (and lots of AC fans too), how about a new section dedicated to those variants?
Cheers

Hmm it was on topic !
I forgot to add Hartge.
What i was trying, badly, to say, is that it would be cool to have a Hartge/Alpina/AC section of the board where the anal .(lysts) among us could discuss these variants, eg your original topic iain, to our hearts content without having to put stickies in the general section. Dont get me wrong, I love the idea but maybe best in its own place?
Just my 2cp
Tim
ps. that the only H28 in the country?

Maybe but what I am trying to achieve is a Hartge register plain and simple.
Your thoughts are good but maybe for discussion in general chat, otherwise this thread will go way off topic if we start discussing other marques.
To my knowledge that is the only exported/concession built import in the country.

I've got the October 1996 issue of Performance Car magazine featuring a head to head test of a Hartge H3 converted by Birds (C173 WLB) and an E36 M3 Evo.
Problem is I haven't got a flat-bed scanner
I could photograph the relevant pages if anyone's interested?
