Depends what you want from the car? And what E36?

Also asking on an E30 site you're likely to get biased opinions.

Not this one again :? . In a nut-shell, most people don't like E36s, everyone loves E30s.

Agreed

I have an E30 because I like them. If I wanted an E36 I would buy one (checked garage, yep still an E30 there)

All depends what you're after.

A decent E36 is a lovely refined thing thats not that far behind an E46. A lot of the early ones though are tatty beyond belief as they're now at that stage of their life when they fall into chav hands. Go for a late one and you've got a very well built car with a much more modern driving experience than an E30.

But....A fully sorted E30 provides a fantastic raw driving experience, no electronic gizmos and requires more effort from the driver to be driven quickly. An E36 is far more relaxing and a lot more forgiving on the limit.

Personally, I'd take an E36 as they are the better car but have to admit I'm probably more "emotionally attached" to my E30.

i think people would agree you have a nice e30 so why get an e36 as i think you would
regret selling the e30 imo.

I have an E30 and an E36 (both coupe's) and even though the E36 coupe is a pretty car, the E30 always get the most comments and glances. E36's are still too new and get lost in the general parking lot, E30's stand out. The build quality (well apart from the crappy seat upholstery anyway) is far better on the E30.

a car with a fixed roof, two doors, two or four seats, and usually a sloping back

Yip - go for it, you're obviously not as attached to your E30 as some on here.
