I heard recently that there was a BMW E30 M3 EvoIII, which is different from the Sport Evolution, and which apparently had the 3.5L straight-six from the M5!! Apparently, it wasn´t built directly by BMW, but by a private company under license from BMW, and only a hundred (or so) were made.
Is this true? Has anyone else heard of this car? I would be very interested to find out more information about this.

Hartge built a number of these - didnt think it was as much as 100 - knew a woman who had one but sold it about a year ago - called something like the H6S

Doh!

I think Hartge put the 3.6 m5 lump in a few, but not 100

Was it the H6? Not sure it was.. Think thats confusion with the B6 which was an Alpina creation of a tuned 3.5 2v engine

This will be the Hartge H35...........6 of which were built to my knowledge and based on the e30 M3 bodyshell but with M5 24valve engine, loads of Hartge bits and said to be good for over 170mph.

It was Hartge who fitted the M5 engine into an E30 M3, it was called the H35 24. Only 6 ever made.

BMW evo III is properly known as a Sport Evolution.
