open question with too many differnt options and opinions, and thats all it is opinion. not may people here qualified to give tru answer on what works

decent set from goodyear, michelin, toyo, falken, bridgestone, normaly get the vote

tyre technology has mover a long way in the last ten years so that wet weather grip is very good with normal driving . obviously you will not be able to drive a s fast in the rain bu if you try to the you are asking for trouble.

I fitted uniroyal rainsports to the back of the 325 when I had it, it was running on 17" Alpina reps and the wet grip was insanely good

ive always recommended toyo t1-r's in the past for exceptional dry grip but after trying out some dunlop sp9000's that is now my tyre of choice for great wet and dry grip.

The trouble with tyre reviews (imo) is that you don't know what car they've been tested on and some tyres suit different cars. This area really is a lottery, so best to go with advice from people who've tried several different brands. If in doubt, play it safe with a really good brand like Dunlop, Michelin, Continental. You might not be getting the best bang for the buck, but you can be pretty sure you won't be getting a set of complete deathtrap tyres which will make you hate your car (and possibly crash).
Pirelli seem to not get much love on this site although they make some excellent tyres for other cars.

I've recently fitted a set of Vredestein Sportrac 3's to my E30 and have been very impressed. Grippy, quiet and superb in the wet. They're stupid money on mytyres but most tyre fitters seem to do them for £50'ish each (for 205x55x15). From previous experience on my E36, they last a fair while.

Er... I think I might be sad but I buy tyres with a tred pattern and nice square shoulders that looks like an 80's "performance" tyre. Currently Goodyear Eagle NCTs are fav.

These tyres will not compete with any that I have mentioned Technology has moved on I remeber seeing an 87 sport with pirelli p600's on it from new these would not be in the same league as the toyo's eagle f1's or the bridgestones

I Know! Who wants too much grip anyway? (except in an emergency stop situation?) I prefere predictability. P6s were cool, my dad had some on his Carlton 2.2i!

F1's up front, remolds at the back. i save so much money with this setup but i guess it depends on how you drive.

I have uniroyal rainsports fitted to my 320, stuck with them through all my E30's, good tyre.
If fuel economy is on the list then consider Michilen Pilot sports, Just fitted them to my 528 and my MPG has gone from 29 to 34! result!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I had planned to try a set of these, but I don't want to go to 50 profile. My dealer says they are not done in 55 profile. What size do you use Jonny??
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I have 16" alpina's on mine, use 45 profile tyres, the ride is pretty good and I'm very happy with the tyre wear and levels of grip. Good tyre without spending a fortune.
