I'm sorry, but I have to say this.......
They'll look far better on an M3 than the ones Dale's got do.

Doubt they would clear really big brakes.

I prefer 16" BBS to those Wrongdells.

I HAVE THESE ON My touring and they are VERY close to the caliper. You could use a spacer possibly? Just make sure you get the right offset. They look good, but bigger brakes later may mean a new set of rims.

It would be a boring world if we didn't. If Dale likes them then fair play - his car, his choice, no-one else's. :thumb::D

Love these wheels too, looking for some for my E36.

Look up some pics of Bens, and Henry's cars for some example pics.

(The dog doesn't come with them does it? Looks like it's guarding the wheels)

10" wide!

Not an uncommon choice if that matters to you. They do suit the car though

Classy loooking car, but to be honest those wheels look like a completely out of character cheezy add-on.
Sorry...but you asked for opinions.

when BMW put a 16" wheel on the car and not 17/18/19 I'm pretty sure that this was for a good reason - handling, so with this in mind my choice of connection to the road co-incidently is what BMW reakon...

Very nice!

I'd try them on the car first though, 10x18" rears sound aweful big to me.

they were 17s tho

even with 17s had to be very careful with tyre size choice as offset meant tyres had to be stretched so inner arches were not fowled on lock

No difference in handling with 16's and 18's TBH.

It's more about unsprung mass than size.

What was run on DTM cars? Albeit they did have to clear brakes...

I went over today and tried on the rear for size.
Looks to be no real problem.
Return tomorrow with the cash winkeye

Bob, They have a very simillar rolling circumference to the standard 16 inch BBS and tyres.

They do need some arch rollinbg, but for the moment it's fine. They're the 17x8.5 all round with 235 40 17 on the rear (hence the rubbing) and 215 40 17 on the front. I need to get the offset bush to centre the wheel, but no issues with lock.

Simon, If i want to go bigger brakes ie 4 pots, I'm going to have to either let these wheels go or use a spacer. They're prolly 1-2mm between the spokes and the caliper, and the inside of the spokes curv back so the chances of big brakes are quite slim.

Gazza, needs some air in that rear tyre!

Sprung mass is everything that's supported by the suspension. Unsprung mass is everything connected to the suspension rather than supported by it, I.E brakes wheels etc. That make sense?

Think of this:

Hold a 2 litre bottle of milk in your hand and try to shake it up and down as fast as you can. Now try it without the bottle. Which one can you do faster?

The empty one?? Why? Less mass on the end of the lever means better response. and longer parts longevity. Also means that there is less mass to move and better road hugging. (Wheel will be able to change vertical motion easier)

I hope that makes sense.

either way those wheels are heavy as fuck.. it's like have a plain piece of toast next to a heavily laden piece with thick marmalade on!

DTM cars ran on billiard table flat tracks with NO road use they had mahoosive brakes to house and comfort was not something that was required.

similar rolling circumference yes but why doesn't everyone have 17" wheels on their e30? because the alpina reps are fucking wank and made of playdoh and they handle like a big bag of shite!

For comparison I drove my M3 with 225/45/16 gsd2 tyres great it was very right I then swopped my wheels for a set of 17" rondells from my mates e36 with 235/40/17 gsd3's and fuck me is was crap it dragged the car all over the show they felt heavier than a fat bloke sitting on your face I didnt bother finishing the rest of the route as it was so shockingly crap!

Evo have just crowned the e30 m3 the greatest ever M car.. saying how it handles so well on 16" wheels hartge and alpina changed from 15 to 16" wheels for improvement.

To all intents and purposes The only good thing about these wheels is that you will attract attention - shame it will be from the chavs in maccy d's as you look a tosser in the drive thru trying to get your food - tip make them walk!

E36 has a different offset so that could also effect the ride. i don't mind the 17's. Sure, there's a little less profile, but still, the handling is good. Yes they do weigh abit, but there are some heavier rims out there!

yeah but why compromise? you are taking off genuinely high quality desireable wheels and replacing them with basically ripspeed specials!

yes it does make sense but how would the unsprung mass of the wheel and brakes adversly effect the handling. as long as both sides are the same then its all balanced?

hardly! They're alot stronger than the originals and it's another option. Where not racing our cars or tracking them day in day out, so why the compromise? Looks mainly. I have a choice of using the Rondells or the e34 M5 dustbins. The dustbins weigh about the same as a 15 inch BBS with tyre, I have the rondells on because I like the look. If I ever track it, i have a set of white motorsport style alloys which I could use, or the dustbins..

Also the different wheels seperate it from all the other ripspeed specials out there!
