Was driving home last night with a friend up a common & busy shortcut between woking & guildford. Now halfway up the road, which is very bumpy and narrow, and is also surrounded by trees, there is a gypsie sight on the left (has been there years), then a small hump back bridge that goes over a rail track then a pub on the right.
I use the road all the time day & night; anyway last night as i turned down the road i was doing about 50mph, & as i approached the campsite a bottle was hurled from the entrance, clearly aimed at my windscreen, which struck on the drivers side wing mirror. Realising that they were gypsies i considered no thought but to carry on. Anyway the next corner is an immidiate small left hander after the entrance to the sight, which goes over a bridge. As i came round the corner there were four tyres, equally spread over the road. Somehow in a split second decision my mate and i decided we were not going to stop for obvious reasons; I tried to aim the car so that a front tyre would hit the bumper but that i would not directly drive over one. Went through them at about 40ish mph. Could see fibreglass etc flying everywere but carried on (thankfully) all the way home. Called the police etc who moved the tyres but they said no one was found (suprise)!
Just been out to check the damage; all i can say is that i was lucky the bottle hit the wing mirror & not the windscreen or drivers door glass. The wing mirror itself has no glass left at all, no working motor and has a huge crack up the front of it. The valance is comedy! Will have to ge a picture up later but it looks like im going back to an i.S. lip for now if i can find one
Quite a horrible experience really, so when your driving around at night and you think roads are safe these days thinks agian!
