popped into my my local stealers to enquire about a new resevoir cap and to be fair i was in my slightly scruffy work gear but man! how rude! everyone working in there looked down there nose at me, spoke to me like i was a bit of unpolished turd. felt soooo outa place. its like i was some kinda retard with "im a penny-less tit" tattoed on my forhead. :(
the funny thing is, is that i probably earn twice what they do. the cheek of it!

hahaha

Elliot, next time you go in there, give each of the blokes a tenner and tell them to get a decent hair cut! That'll shut 'em up! Most of the main stealers sales excrementers have got boy band hair cuffs and wear their dads cufflinks.

At the weekend. I wasn't suited and booted but I wasn't scruffy either... Was the same as with Elliot, looking down on me etc.
So I went back on Tueday to pick my part up and took my baby daughter....took her upstairs to the parts department and they were as nice as pie, probably because I was suited and booted. I then went back into the showroom knowing
full well my daughter had ridiculously sticky hands after eating half a bag of haribo and made sure as I looked round she touched every glass display cabinet and desk in there.

:D

That'll learn them!

It wasnt the way you were dressed. Recently reading other threads, people have been experiencing 'sh*te on my shoe' service from many different BMW dealers, in attitude, customer service and bad workmanship.

BMW are not far away from being in the same position as MB were a few years ago and are just now getting their old customer base back, albeit in small numbers.

I dont blame BMW GB as such, its the fault of the franshise. However, if BMW GB were that interested in their customers, NEW and OLD, they would be getting their executives out to the dealerships and cracking the whip......'put up or ship out'

Recently, the 2 nearest dealerships to me have recently had new owners.....the trouble is that the majority of the staff are the same....

Lets hope the bad apples are chucked out with the oil waste!

WHEN I win the lottery, I am going to go into a dealership with a tesco bag full of Ԛ£50's, dressed like a street urchin and start looking at a new M3....and make noises about buying it!!

When they totally ignore me, I will go back to the car and change into a suit, but keep the tesco bag on dosh.....go back into the dealership and make the same noises.....when they start to give me service I will announce who I am, what I have in the bag and tell them to shove their M3 up their jacksy......I will do a video too!

I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose, I'm sure you were forced to watch it by your g/f or partner!...unless you had all the lads round to watch it on dvd....

I actually know somebody who did that..
got to the stage where they asked him "what finance package would you like sir" He just said "oh i've got a suit case 'ear with it in cash.." He was a buider and i suspect it was a payment fr a none VAT job.... It was in Newport as well probably more cash in the suitcase than there was in the whole town!

Ive always found Hexagon in Kentish town to be pretty friendly. Looks like quick a few old school people go there. The sales department do ring me up every so often wondering when i'm thinking of changing my car.... I say its got at least another 80 000 miles in it, bmw build them well don't you know!

Back in the 60's I had a mate who was a salesman in the biggest Jag dealership in Durban (South Africa). He was most unlike the shite-in-nostrils types who worked there.Well truth to tell he was a bit of a pi*scat but that's another story.

One day a guy in filthy overalls walked in to the showroom-my mate was the only one to get up to attend to the bloke-the other salesmen pretended to be busy.

Half an hour later my mate was holding a cheque for the full price of 2 E-types.

Turns out he was the owner of the biggest bodyshop in the country and wanted one for himself and one for his wife.

Our Southampton BMW is exactly the same as those described above.Of course if I walk in (well I do work in a Professional office and have to dress accordingly - and I am 60) they fall over themselves.Different story if I phone up-the snotty little telephonist must have lost them LOADSA sales.

I do get a really really warm feeling of "this is getting my own back" when I walk in the showroom though-you can smell the fear among the salesmen who aren't making traget

Sytners in Solihull have been pretty decent any time Ive been in. One of the guys even advised me not to get some parts and advised how I could repair them myself for a tenth of the price. (OBC bulbs etc).

having worked in the Auction trade for a while, I'm extremely wary of Dealerships in general...

any place that charges so much more for a car, with little or no corresponding increase in service/aftercare doesnt really make me comfortable.

with regards to the parts dept, I will have my first experience of my local BMW dealer (Parks of Hamilton) tomorrow.I'm going in to get an air hose for the 525i

I'll report back on how I get on...

That won't work any more, Nostrils. Chances are sales exec in boy band hair cut will report you to the law for suspected money laundering.

Yeah it's a cxxp world we live in when decent folks can't just walk into a dealer's with a bagful of readies and drive away in a new M3 - no question ask.

My local $tealers are fine when I go in.

I normally get asked 'hows the conversion going?' from everyone when I walk through the showroom to get to the parts dept.
And when Im waiting at the parts desk, the owner often comes down from his office and chats for a while.

And all that after Ive parked my muddy, rusty, noisy Metro in pride of place in their car park.
I get the disapproving looks from the other customers but the staff are very friendly.

Top hats off to Dick Lovett BMW then,I went in there once with my old 325 saloon, most of you will be able to gather what the inside looked like 8O and as for myself, well,I could have made a tramp looked smart!
Anyway, the car was in for a recall, the treatment I got was second to none.
I made a joke about the state of the car and there response was "We treat everyone the same regardless as to whether you drive a Ԛ£60,000 7 series or a Ԛ£50 banger",and they were true to their word, even in my tramp like state they still said to go take a seat in the well presented seating area, and help yourself to coffee and biscuits!
Big up Dick Lovett

WOOD BMW in Hook, Hants - top boys!

* They'll spend ages sifting through the parts computer for bits

* when more than one part number is listed (my cab is the funny '89 cross over period) they will order the different variant bits to check and compare them in the flesh before picking the right one

* have checked out the OBC and reset it f.o.c.

* have offered me a 10% discount when I was in two minds about OEM pads. Silly boy, I got EBC anyway, but wouldn't this be a good zone deal! 10% off, just like the BMWOC?

* one technician lives in my road! - Woods arranged for him to take my car in last week for service (my day job E30 dES) when I was away for the week, and the service grace period was going to run out... Next oil service -900 miles...

* Plus the boys drive E30s!

Surely all dealers can't be that bad?

Also, what about Kwik Fit? let me open another can of worms here, but the one in Alton are alright.. replaced my tyre valves f.o.c., swapped over my wheels f.o.c.,

Halfords anyone?????

My dealers are great. I walk in after work "fresh" from the building sites and i get "Hi" off one receptionist and the other stares at me everytime, and i stare back. Bitch.

Parts guys are great they recommened an ex master technican for servicing. Always have a chat, and they got really excited when i said i was going to the ring and i'm going through all my suspension.

I'm usually greeted with "back again?!"

The salesmen are helmets though

thing is they don't stock anything over 5 years old, BUT they can get every E30 nut and bolt going virtually. I don't know whether it helps that i live in bracknell and thats where bmw HQ is and the big bad boy ware house were everything comes from Germany.

So next time they say that reply sharply "bollocks" and tell them to get on that fooking etk and look for it, mongs
