325 Sport no interest?
Moderator: martauto
I have placed an ad on here with a link to my Sport that I have for sale at the moment. It is a lovely rust free car that has had a lot of money spent on in the last 6 months yet I have had no interest at all. Have I overpriced the car even though it stands me at a lot more or is my ad wrong, any tips or genuine advice would be appreciated. I don't need to give it away if you check my profile in the ad I am a bit of a car nut!

No disrespect mate but the whole car would look better with a bloody good valet.
Also dont think your photos are doing it justice. Why not give everything a good clean, wait for a half decent day find a good location and take some more pics. Good luck with sale.

Agree with Gooner1. There's nothing more miserable looking than a dirty black car on a rainy day except a dirty black car with black wheels on a rainy day!
When perfectly good Sports are going for £3500 where's the extra for yours? You're making a big thing about the 5 stud conversion but nobody is going to see the benefit of that. It would look far better with the wheels silver too.
Find a bright sunny day with the car just waxed & get some higher res photos to do the car justice.
Maybe rethink your price too?
Good luck!

Agree with the others - the pictures make it look like a bit of a dog, especially the side profile one where its arse is sat on the floor - is it supposed to look like that or is something broken? I'm not trying to sound funny, its a genuine question and one that other buyers will be asking.
The stereo thing is very much personal taste, and its not something that I would be particulraly interested in. I think you'd be better off just listing it in the ad, and removing the pictures. If someone wants pics they will ask for them - get some better pictures of the car's outside, taken from more flattering angles, and spend an hour cleaning and waxing the outside and sticking a vacuum around the inside.

I think the price is definately a bit high but i'm more curious as to why the rear is so low but the front looks like is it on stilts. I also don't think the modifications add any real value to the car at all i'm afraid, they rarely do, they either make a car easier or harder to sell depending what they are.

H802 YUU = 325 I SPORT on the RAC vehicle check...
As others have said, clean car, better location, return the car to standard and sell the after market parts separately. I would not even go to look at a car with a massive ICE setup etc just looks pimped.
Retrim does the car no favours either

My thoughts exactly. That is no way a standard 325i engine in there, looks like a 320i one.hongkongfuey wrote:why has it got a 320 inlet manifold ? has it had cheep engine swap?

I checked the link first, and was about to post about the inlet manifold....
It's likely to be just the manifold has been replaced with the wrong type, but this will effect the power pretty seriously...
Wrong steering wheel for a H 1991 too..

hung drawn and quartered is the term that springs to mind.
I bet he wishes he never posted it now.
Thought it might be the wrong steering wheel but i knew some Tech 2s had Tech 1 wheels.

the car looked wrong with those wheels. a good car in the wrong hands
it looks fine to me, no reason to doubt its genuine...looks like a 2.5 unless i am greatly mistaken?
would def take the sounds out, price maybe around mid 3 to 4k...that to me would be a great car, esp with 5 lug (a la the 325iS in SA)
mtech 1 wheel is easily remedied, i know in NZ a lot of tech 2's came with that instead of the tech 2 wheel
is almost a spitting image of mine with the dark wheels haha.
also, you havent mentioned what you used to 5lug the rear?

This cars engine,

What a 2.5 M20 should look like,

I'm no expert but something looks really wrong with the sport.

no one fits a 320 inlet to a 325i engine.
ah the sport debacle again! I've said it once so again!
On the dealer print out of the options the car should have the "M-technik sports paket" Or on the original service book it will have 325i sport as the model along with chassis and engine number. F**k what the RAC says or the log book!

Can you not have Sport added to the title on the logbook years later any ways which would then show up on the RAC search?

They do actually, and I've seen it happen more than once, and this post is proof as to why, most people can't see the difference, to me and you (and a few others who've noticed) it sticks out like a sore thumb.Simon13 wrote:no one fits a 320 inlet to a 325i engine.
The number of e-bay sellers I've e-mailed to let them know the '325i' inlet manifold they are selling is actually a 320i item is probably in double figures by now. This one could have been bought as such to replace an old dirty one.
As for the steering wheel issue, then yes, early tech II's had the m-tech I wheel, anything on a H reg should have the tech II.

my sport has one of those council wood seat backs I ripped it out as it looked like a pile of crap... free to any deviant who wants it
If you want 4.5k for that car put the standard suspension on, take the stereo out, change the wheels back to silver try finding a period headunit get someone to valet the car for you get some good pics in a good place make the car stand out.
IN the advert list all the factory optional extras list the MOT's you have, list the service history and take a picture of the history saves time and effort for the buyer.
The car will look more honest and not just another abused tarted up 325i

Bloody hell I have definitely taken some stick here! To all the people that have given helpful advice and constructive criticism thanks.
To clear a few points up yes I did buy the manifold on eBay as a refurbed 325 one and did not know it wasn't, luckily I still have the original. It is a 325i SPORT with the black headlining etc and was looked over by a friend of mine that it the proprietor of a BMW parts company and long standing member of the S14 and BMW owners club that know these cars better than most.
Yes it has the wrong steering wheel on as it also has different BBS wheels on. I also forgot to add there is a set of 16â€a BBS wheels in the price in their original colour and will put these on as they might look better than the black ones. These alone with tyres are worth £500. The car was lowered when I got it and because I have 2 E30 M3's I used a spare front set of E30 struts, hubs, callipers, bearings, black Diamond discs and Pagid blue pads that are £200 on their own! It now needs the ride altering at the front I totally agree and will now sort. The rears are again M3 hubs, bearings callipers and the expensive Pagid pads. To the guys that posted 5 stud conversions are not worth or are any better than standard have obviously never driven an M3 in anger as most people who do track days will know a lot of time is won on the brakes!
I can't understand how a decent stereo that has a DVD changer TV hands free phone and Sat Nav capabilities is a no no as any new BMW without them now is a poor seller. The sub is screwed on by wood screws as it is screwed into half inch marine ply that has been covered in acoustic cloth so wood screws ideal!
I posted on here for some advice and get idiots telling me it has had an engine transplant or its not a sport etc what a waste of time. The price is obviously too high but I paid £3,000 for it had a full service inc cam belts at £500 and another at the same for the fitting of the struts hubs brakes and new bearings etc. The price of just the pads is £400 then 4 new bearings Black Diamond grooved discs at just under £200 then the price of all the 2nd hand E30 M3 bits makes the 5-stud conversion over £1,000 plus the fitting. New tyres £250. The head unit was £400 new from a discount stereo mail order the DVD multi changer was £600 the 2 amps £230 the door pods £60 the speakers £150 the Parrot Bluetooth interface £80. The leather seats new cam cover quality carpets etc etc.
All this work I had done in the last 3 months with all invoices. I personally thought £4,500 was a fair price for a totally rust free Sport that drives brill and stops better than anyone's on here I no doubt. But I will drop the price hopefully someone will come along to view and realise they will have bought a bargain if they have not been put off by some knobs on here.
Here below are the other BMW's I own a CSL a E30 M3 with 300 BHP and a lovely black cabriolet E30 M3. I regularly track the Warsteiner car especially Nurburgring and Spa. And for some of the guys who have posted on here Spa is not a big bathtub!!
