It isn't worth borrowing one dude - Ikea do good ones for about £8.
They are located at the tills so people can purchase them when they realise there's no way they are getting all the tat they have bought into their car.
You can even take them back to Ikea when you've done for a full refund. You obviously won't be returning them though as they're only 8 quid, plus they're a good solid set of roof rails. Mine have done good service on numerous E30s and Golfs and I've shifted sofas with them fitted to a Carlton. In fact I liked them so much I bought a second set that I have my bike carrier permanently fitted too.
