The fact that everything i've touched on mine this weekend has broken beyond repair, ie: central locking motor, drivers door lock barrel, dash above pedals, oh, and my alarm.
I hate -
The way it looks old and tired when it isnt clean
The nasty noise it makes with that nasty powerflow on.
The fact that it shudders and rattles when its cold
The fact that there is usually something that needs fixing
The simple reason that one minute something is wrong and I hate it and want to sell it, then I go back to it after a while and love the shape, and the way it looks and wonder how I could ever consider selling.
Turning into a bit of a love hate relationship.

1) 4 turns lock to lock steering thats pretty dammn lifeless
2) Bad sound proofing
3) Lack of air con
4) Bad low speed ride, its nice when you quicken up (good motorway cruiser) but i crawl around town most of the time.
5) Silly insurance prenuims
6) Laughing quietly to yourself as you calculate 20 mpg out of ur tank of fuel, yet again...
7) Girls thinking the e30 is a pile of t0$$ because its "so" last century...
Its Brilliant Red, the worse colour, i have to sink down low in my seat so im not seen. The colour also seems to attract "undesirables" to race you at the lights too....
Gez that makes it look like i wanna burn my car and get a bicycle...
I do like bits of it honest!
1) Awsome power, any gear and it goes!
2)
rwd, nuff said...
3) It really is old school cool to look at
4) A straight 6, no need to say more on that point...
5) Very good leather sports seats, can even recline them back fully to chill out when ur not driving.

Surely your car does'nt have any rust splondike? If it does then were all fcukedSplondike wrote:hmm I love it but:

So is the rust
The way every chav in the world wants a race
The accelerator pedal the brake pedal are to close for my wide feet (better now with my new pedals)
F***ing exhaust manifold studs
It won't do 0-60 in 4 secs and 220 Mph
Other than that its fookin ace
(1)(funnily enough),Rust or the sign of it rearing it's manky head.
(2)Panel under dash catching foot, not for long though.
(3)As someone else mentioned, not having enough funds or time to do what id like with it.
(4)tappet noise, crap brakes, etc, etc.Basically every thing everyone else has mentioned.
But i still love it to bit's(not literally i hope).

reading through this i can see most points but can i make a few suggestions?
Change your manky 18 year old brake fluid. Disks and pads from the dealer are no more than anywhere else!
sound proofing can be bought from the dealer for Ԛ£1 a sheet. Get those seats out and stick it down!
Sterring fit an E36 rack if your that upset by it.
The inerior has hardly any bolts in it go tighten them all up! There is so many things u can do on the cheap to make your car better.
Me i don't like the fact that
A) mine has rust!
B) i scraped the side up a merc yesterday and have a 5 foot green go faster stripe!
There are many heaps of sh!te on the road today that are not a touch on an E30 a ford fiesta and renault megane are just 2 of them. Look at the state of other cars the same age as an E30 and u will laugh!

my steering is NOT lifeless even in its 4 turn pas form........ i think one easily gets used to it..... good geometry cancounteract feel.... and ive driven a 911 and an evo6 mak edition...awesome cars both of them.
ultimatel;y u can make them very good entertaining cars with good choice mods....
my fave shape is a stock red iS on 15in BBS with black leather+red piping
my sport looks pure evil from the front view though
and its reliable too considering how i use it.....

How does the E36 rack compare to the Z3 rack? What model is the E36 anyway?Sterring fit an E36 rack if your that upset by it.
Theres not a lot i hate but here goes:
High standard suspension
Rattle from powerflow exhaust(will have to get that fixed) but it's not the e30's fault it's powerflow!!
Non sport seats
Fact that it isnt a 325i motorsport
Small patches of rust that appear when you think you got rid of all the rust
The way the boot leaks!!
other than that i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

having everyone who gets a lift slamming your doors as they assume "an old car like that" will need it
a gearshift that feels like stirring a bowl full of potatoes with a spoon.
regardless of anyone elses opinions on the matter... the steering is VERY lazy! (on all of the e30's i've owned). anyone who says it isn't, obviously needs a go in a MK2 Escort RS with a quickrack!
the rust is a little annoying!
the glovebox takes up half of the dash but can't hold more than a sandwich! also, it's very heavy.
the headlight washwipe system, the speakers, the headlight adjuster system, the fact the cylinder heads seem to be made of glass, the rear camber (even though it looks good!), the fact the touring gets a filthy arse end 2 mins after leaving the house, the huge front castor angles....
and the most stupidly small thing BMW could have done to please me was to put a dim bulb function in the heated rear window switch like they did with ALL of the other switches!#
it's not all bad though, we're all being a bit harsh!

Nothing

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...
1. Very spongy brake pedal (Brakes themselves are fine even with track work) And that is after front braided brake lines, new discs and pads and multiple brake fluid changes by myself and mechanics. Difficult to rev match when the brake pedal sinks to the floor, especially on the race track when I am braking hard.
2. Gearbox both the baulky gear change (which could be because my gearbox is older and probably needs rebuilding) and the big gap between 2nd and 3rd that drops my car out of the power, means I have to change gears in a corner, and makes it difficult to rev match 3rd to 2nd I have to rev it soo hard to match the rpm.
3. Tappet noise Although it is probably worse because the head is still original after about 160k Miles and I think the camshaft is a bit worn.
If those things were fixed then then it would be a very good car. I actually think I could fix them all in one go by doing an engine and gearbox change which could mean I would have space to move the master cylinder to the correct side (right). Or I could fit a pedal box.
1 other thing that I don't like is the very light steering in my car but I think that is because I have an E36 rack and I haven't changed the power steering pully thing, so not a fault of the car.
Funny how this thread is at 3 pages and the "What do you love about it" thread is still on it's first

I was only joking. Even with the things I have mentioned (which really interfere with the driving experience for me) I still like driving it. I have actually been looking for something to replace it with but so far I can't find anything better (for around the same money at least). Even if I did find something I probably wouldn't wan't to sell mine, and I still want an E30 M3.Widge wrote:That's cos I only started the "love it" thread at 10 this evening and I think this one has been going for a day+
